There should be a fix for this, I do not think the dealership will admit they hear the noise in most cases, especially if they can't correct the issue

@Djinndjinn - when you’re driving your CT at/around highway speeds, does it sound like it’s windy outside even when it’s not?

That’s the best way I can describe what I experience in my CT. I think most people can relate to what it sounds like to drive ANY car/truck on a windy day. You get crosswind sounds in the windshield area.

In my CT, at speeds about 55+, I have that crosswind sound like you’d hear on a windy day, but even when it’s dead still outside.

Have service figure it out and fix it. It’s their job and what the warranty is for.
I agree when you live in close proximity of your service center.

Mine is a 6hr round trip to drop it off and then 6 more to pick it up. Since they are no longer open on Saturday, this also involves time off work if I want to go for a ride with someone to make sure that we are talking about to the same noise/issue.

I have learned over the years of owning teslas that it saves me lots of time and money to figure it out as much as possible before I take it in.

Each persons scenario is a little different.

Yes that’s what I hear. It’s independent of whether there is a lot of wind- but dependent on speed - starts at 60+ but then gets much worse as speed increases. 75 mph is pretty awful.

has anyone found windshield rubber seals that are thin enough to apply on the CT? Most seem too wide (because it won’t lay flat because of the steel edge sticking up). ?? Was thinking of trying this to see if it helps.

Can you record it and let us listen to the noise? Is the noise much different when you drive into the wind vs go with it? Any mods youve done to thr truck? Frunk seal ok? (Just trying to help you analyse) My truck is very quiet, even at higher speeds. I have heard the wiper rattle at one time, possibly due to cross wind.

Although I didn’t think my wife’s Model Y was noisy, I bought an inexpensive noise reduction kit from RPM Tesla that consisted of a ~3/8” diameter black rubber cord that was cut to length to fit the perimeter of the roof glass —you just push it into place. After doing so, it was substantially quieter.

I recommend those with wind noise inspect the seals around the windshield and roof glass.

thanks. I ordered the noise reduction kit from RPM Tesla for the model S. They don’t have one for the CT. it is a loop- and it looks like the S is about 10” smaller perimeter-wise, so hoping it is stretchy enough to accommodate the slightly larger CT roof glass. Will report back about fit, and noise, after it arrives.

try painters tape at the edges of the glass and a small leaf blower

the noise reduction kit from RPM Tesla for the model S fits the Cybertruck very well. Took a few tries but I was able to install in about 15 minutes with painters tape as a helper (they have an installation video which was helpful). It is a loop of rubber - I ran it around the perimeter of the roof glass - easy on front and back, but with sides I had to decide whether to run along the roof glass or the side piece that abuts the stainless steel side. I chose the former because it made the perimeter smaller and much closer to the size of the model S - I was afraid it wouldn’t stretch enough if I ran it down the outer sides. See pics.

And … it really helped! Definite reduction in noise. Thinking much of the improvement was closing the gap between the windshield and roof glass. Only $30 bucks. If you have windshield noise, maybe give it a try.

My CT sounded like a tea kettle at speeds above 50 mph. The service center resolved the issue: "Fixed Glass Roof Assembly - Remove and Replace." Part: FIXED GLASS ROOF ASSEMBLY (1770891-00-D).

Awesome, glad you got some benefit from this!
Thanks for posting the detailed follow up.
I think I’ll give it a try.

Do you know what they saw, or what made them decide, that this was the culprit? And did they replace the entire glass roof, or remove it and redo something with the seals?

Well, I brought it into service a second time. The technician was very nice. We drove around, heard the noise. He then had me drive in a loaner cybertruck and compare, and it too was noisy. So his conclusion was this is the way it’s supposed to be.

so now I’m confused. Others on this forum say that their cybertruck is quiet. Clearly, when driving above 65 miles an hour, there is a significant amount of wind noise turbulence coming across the front windshield on my cybertruck. It does not appear to be localized at all, just sounds like air bouncing against the windshield. Frustrating…
The service manual for Windshield location on the cybertruck shows the top border of the windshield is supposed to be 1mm over the sunroof glass. If it does not have that clearance, windnoise results. If your windshield shows either level or slightly below the sunroof glass, that is probably the cause of your wind noise and it should be covered under warranty since the Telsa Service manual includes that spec.

Another consideration which might be a consideration--the lightbar sits atop the windsheild, might channel windflow and correct the issue if it's determined that the windshield is not 1mm above the sunroof, I have no knowledge of this but posts on this board I've seen seem to indicate the lightbar does not add any windnoise.

My CT is in the shop currently with a windshield being replaced (Helene dropped a tree on it) and so I did research to find out install specs and led me to above 1mm issue. When I asked the mechanic to ensure they check that (they said they would), I never got the feeling they actually had done this before or knew about this placement. Windshield is a bear to install, and suspect being off by 1mm may not be uncommon, perhaps:)

Thank you for this! My windshield is also being replaced due to a windstorm and, in the process of fixing it, they broke the roof glass. While the truck is waiting for parts, I'll make sure to bring this 1mm thing to their attention. (I'm sure they'll just love that...). I get the impression they also haven't done many replacements in my shop either.

This is super helpful information, thanks! I am also experiencing windshield noise where it sounds a lot “windier” than you’d expect even on days with minimal wind. I looked at my windshield and the gap looks good between the windshield and the roof but I noticed my windshield sits slightly above the roof line and not flush. Do you know if this is correct? In the picture the windshield seems flush with the roof line. Thanks!
