Anyone use Rain-X on the CT yet?
No listing for Tesla on their wipers.

Anyone done Aquapel? Doesn’t roll off water until traveling a bit faster than Rain-X in terms of speed and it costs more up front, especially for a windshield that large… but it lasts many months longer than Rain-X which has to be re-applied pretty (annoyingly) often IMHO.

FWIW

Cheers

I used RainX on the windscreen, it seems to have helped quite a bit.

But I did need a stepladder lol
I was wondering about reaching the entire windshield.
Some kind of dual purposed walking stick could be fashioned.
Can wack the kids who get to close and leave fingerprints.

Gonna have to try it, Rain-X doesn't last very long, and is gone if you use the wipers.

I’ve been using or have tried many Rain-X and related products like aquapel for close to 30 years. While many newer products last longer than the original Rain-X they don’t allow the same beading and rolling off at lower speeds that Rain-X does. They bead and roll, not saying they don’t, they just require a bit more speed for the water to really get moving. One has to decide if more often reapplication is worth the better beading/rolling off.

Personally, I use Griots Garage Glass Sealant as I have found it offers the best compromise of beading and longevity along with only Rain-X all season washer fluid. Their washer fluid helps rejuvenate the sealant, making it last a bit longer. Also, I find the griots sealant quite easy to remove compared to Rain-X.

I used Gyeon view. The application process (particularly the glass cleaning step) is pretty annoying, but I've been very pleased with the results. They have a version now that they claim lasts 2 years, called Gyeon view evo. The stuff I used they claim lasts 1 year. It works well so far. I only have to use my wipers at low speed and/or in rain that's so light that there isn't enough water to form a big enough bead to be blown off.

It did take 3 containers but I did all of the glass except the rear windshield. I would count on using 2 for just the windshield

Yep. Aquapel needs like 10-15 more mph for an equivalent bead up and roll off effect for visibility without even really needing wipers at all even in heavy rain kind of water shedding when compared to Rain-X. And I bet that you would need at least 3 if not 4 of the Aquapel snap containers / applicators to coat the whole windshield on a CT/CB.

I still prefer it to Rain-X though because I just can’t be bothered to re-apply that frequently. Every 4-8 months (depending on how much rain there js and how much you use your wiper fluid, etc) is way easier to do for me than every 1-2 weeks but if you have the time Rain X does work at the lower speeds better for sure in my experience.

I tried Rain-X years ago, thought it was awesome, but that only lasted a week. After it wore off, it was worse than having no coatings at all! All streaky and smeary. I tried reapplying, it helped at first (it brought the water repellancy back), but the streaking and smearing only got worse over time (as it wore off) with multiple applications.

You need this stuff, users say it’s the only thing that will remove RainX completely. It’s probably best to strip clean periodically before re-applying.

Be careful with RainX best to spray it on the rag and not straight on the window as the runs will make the stainless look like shit, unless you spend hours buffing it out with Barkeepers friend. Speaking from experience.
