From what I’ve heard, Elon did NOT initially want steer-by-wire or rear-wheel steering. The amazing team at Tesla talked him into it.
Then why does everyone blame Elon that the release price was so much higher than the reveal price?

I'm glad Elon caved to his team and brought us something so much more special than a basic work truck. I mean, money is only money, but cool shit is cool shit! I've never owned a truck this nimble, thanks to steer-by-wire and four wheel steering!

Hey everyone,
I am planning on buying a Cybertruck soon. I am located in the bay area but I commute to university in Berkeley (you can prob guess which one), I was hoping to buy a cybertruck but the news about vandalizing Cybertrucks have been worrying me lately. Especially in Berkeley where its very left wing and probably hates Elon way more now and the cybertruck. Is this a cause of concern? I really wanted to buy it!
Depends on the area of the country. Those of us in upstate New York, where there are plenty of Tesla cars and almost no cybertrucks, I bought my beast end of June 2024 and have hundreds of folks who love it and so far two,,,,,,, I'll repeat two toothless truck drivers, one who gave me a thumbs down and the other shaking his head with a no.......... and here is my experience that I send to a lot of folks,,,,,,,,,,

It seems that some radical types opposing the new administration are getting increasingly bold with property vandalism. I don't think they realize that elon musk isn't the owner of the cybertruck in front of them. Somehow vandalism sends a message to the president?
It's illogical, so i would be concerned in the bay area.

It's not really a left-right thing. More a have-have not thing. I get more harassment from far right folks in big trucks blowing coal with American flags flying in their beds than the centrists where I live (but that is mostly because they are the majority here).
The one clear message that the CT sends to any observer which is universally true is that in a time where many, if not most, are struggling you have access to substantial resources. Irrespective of what you think you are; you present as Bourgeois. This alone makes ppl angry. People who know absolutely nothing about the capabilities or the value proposition simply see conspicuous consumption. Some think it’s disgusting, others are jealous.

Politics and penis size will vary (they have assumptions about both). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The car being called a “DepLorean” was kind of a lighthearted jab and funny (at least to me). They’re now being referred to as, “Swastikars.”

A shift has occurred and now you’re engaging people’s basal ganglia (reptilian brain). Trouble will follow.

I do not support EMs antics and it’s abundantly clear that it’s hurting the brand. New studies show this every day. But more than any of that, I protect what’s mine and this truck is MINE.

Your free speech/opinion/gestures (let alone hostile actions) END at the perimeter of my space; and my space IS NOT a safe place for you on either side of the simpleton partisan political spectrum to try project/impose/assert your idiotic will. If you’re looking for trouble, you’re looking in the exact right place.

Stupid is as stupid does. My advice is don’t be stupid. The prizes are not desirable.

I’m getting more middle fingers and looks now. Got an egg thrown at the tonneau cover the other day. I’m in SF.
