Given what you know now (May 2025)…take out the fanboyism…take into account the controversial style, social hatred, recalls, fit & finish, discoloration of bed, FSD updates lagging behind other Teslas, no matrix headlights, no range extender battery, etc.

(Note, i am NOT a hater…please see my previous posts…but just want to list as many negatives as i can think of so to get an accurate answer. And yes, i have been researching A LOT and know that there are MANY positives about CT…but just want to push people to give honest answer.)

What would you tell your younger self if you could travel back in time to when you hit the BUY button? Would you stop yourself from buying? Or not? If Tesla bought back your CT today, then would you buy another again?

Yes!

Ordered the Foundation Beast back in 3/3024. Got the charging station, power share and install (didn’t have to pay a penny for installation).
Insurance is less than the 2014 Nissan we sold so it could have the garage space.
Beast mode is adrenaline on tap.
The haters are hilarious, seeing such a visceral reaction to a truck will never not be funny.

For what we need, there hasn’t been a better deal on the truck than the one we got.

I would 100% do it all again.

Taking into account the controversial style, social love, lack of recalls, great fit & finish, no discoloration of bed, FSD, great SC support, ability to power appliances in an emergency, 3rd party accessories support, no maintenance, great range and a lot more: YES!

Car insurance is cheaper than your Nissan?? Hmmm, that is nice! I read on here that CT insurance is very high!

I've been considering this a lot lately.. Having moved to a new city (college town) right before making my purchase and not establishing a strong community of friends here, its been rough having such a controversial vehicle and being treated like a pariah in some circumstances.. The inability to park my vehicle without considerations has brought me a lot of anxiety also. I've not gone on second dates because they found out I have a CT.. Everything has become political.. I did not think the CT would get THIS MUCH hate.. Yet, I cannot regret my decision.. $80k is a lot of money to me too! (paid in full). However, this was a dream.. and actually living with the vehicle, I can truly say it is incredible.. A marvel of beautiful engineering. The drive is fantastic. The speed is so much fun. The cabin is comfortable. Parking is easy with steer by wire. I've only had one issue which the service center was able to address.. If one can put up with the thumbs down and middle fingers, it is a fantastic vehicle to own. I've also received lots of love and inquiry. I have very little regrets in life, thankful for that..

Absolutely. There is no truck that has FSD except the Cybertruck. If other trucks start to have a comparable self driving AI I’ll strongly consider other trucks. Especially ones with more range. But given FSD and steer by wire on Cybertruck. It outweighs strict range benefits of Silverado EV etc.

I think it might depend on where you live. Here in Cheyenne with a multi-policy discount and being in our 40s with good driving history it’s shockingly inexpensive.

No because the of the false premise cancelation of the extended battery. While to many that may not matter, for those that it does/makes the difference, it is the ultimate buyers remorse. I'm not enjoying all the political stuff (just got called a Nazi yesterday), I can get past people having bad behavior. But for Tesla themselves to burn Cybertruck owners that bought the Cybertruck knowing it would be one of the best towing range vehicles available in the near future, says even more. If they can do this to their more loyal owners (as Cybertruck owners are, in this political era), then they will very likely do it again on other products in the future. Loyalty and trust burned/lesson learned... buyers beware, think twice about Tesla Promises and know what you are actually buying vs what you will get!

That being said, the Cybertruck is amazing in how it drives (FSD, air ride, and the drive by steering/4 wheel steering)! It is more utility than expected, but it is not a towing truck for anything beyond around town/short trips!

Funny how YOU'RE the Nazi, being harassed because you MAY have a different opinion than them.. Wild times..

There are a lot of people who faithfully listened to the Sesame Street song “One of these things is not like the other…one of these things doesn’t belong”.

This song was reconsidered years ago due to changing social views about rejecting or ridiculing things that seem different. Its potential for reinforcing negative stereotypes and "othering" makes it something that needs to be examined and understood.

Yes I would!. Cyberbeast founders edition here.

But i'm disappointed with the missing specs. (like 500 Miles, armored glass etc. )
Also disappointed with the whole Founders edition disaster (PRICE) i think that really left a sour taste on peoples mouth and also botched the potential of sales of this truck.

I pondered this for a while before answering, and it surprised me that I had to do so.

The short answer is that I would buy it again. I don't tow, so that's not an issue for me. I need a weekend-warrior pickup truck that can keep me and mine safe. The fact that the CT is as fun to drive as it is, and that it has FSD, dog mode, 4W steering, invulnerability to door dings, *and* is a backup power source for my house put it in a class of its own.

I wish it weren't such a visible lightning rod for the folks that see it as a symbol of something they don't agree with, though, which is what led to my pondering. My dog doesn't like getting flipped off by scraggly faced 20 year olds in their mom's Subaru, and it's annoying to have to think about whether it'll be get vandalized if I go somewhere. But, I think all that will pass and, hopefully, the CT will be seen as it what it really is - which is not a replacement for all pickup trucks, but an incredibly safe and fun to drive vehicle with a lot of utility.

For reference, mine is a 20k VIN beast. No issues with it, other than the standard issue leaky tonneau. Have had no drive/electrical failures, no bricking, etc. And I have not experienced the 'clunk' when accelerating with the beast, as has been reported by many. (It is listed as having the cant-rail recall, but mine seem fine and I haven't taken it in yet).

I may not be the best person to answer since I've only had it for 5wks, but the the only thing that bothers me are the weirdos that give me the finger. Who knew old people with white hair were so rude to strangers? I mean, I have white hair too!

That aside, I love it. It's great. Everything I was looking for, an adventure EV that I can take on 6wk ski trips that can drive for me.

My ski bud has an off-road Sprinter RV that costs about $250k. I can't afford that. It's nice, but putting a camper top on the CT will be fine. It'll drive itself, even better at my age. And, being an EV, it just makes everything simpler rather than having to deal with multiple fuels.

And, it can act as my house backup power. That'll save a minimum of $10k on a generator setup.

Not to mention, my final cost after all the incentives is around $56,300, not counting fees. It's actually cheaper than my last 2 cars, a 2001 BMW 330xi and my 2018 Model 3 LR-AWD, after adjusting for inflation. I still have both of those.

Here's a little table I put together with my costs, including negotiating 7% off my BMW, after incentives and adjusting for inflation. I can't quite believe my vehicles are getting cheaper.
Tesla Cybertruck Would You BUY a CT again today? by default 2025-05-08 at 10.56.38 PM

One could argue not to include an interest rate promo, but it's a financial incentive relative to market rate. The other vehicles I bought didn't get promo rates, but market rates, so for the CT, I show that financial value of the promo rate.
