Got my FS AWD a couple of weeks ago. I sent in servicing request for a couple of cosmetics, rattling noises, and missing accessories. Based on the online pictures when purchasing the truck, I was expecting it to come with the Alcantara suede dash. I was a bit surprised when it didn't, but I wasn't upset. The perforated dash looked pretty nice as well. I decided to include that it was missing in the the service description as well, figured I wouldn't lose anything. The service team messaged back saying only a select few AWD FS models came with the suede dash and mine wasn't one of them. Ok no problem, I moved on.

I just dropped off my truck for the the scheduled service a couple of days ago. The service team was great. Addressed all my concerns and assured me everything will be taken cared of. I got put into a Model X loaner and I was on my merry way. Today I get a message to approve my cost estimate. Weird, I already approved it but whatever. I go into the app to approve and it's a completely different cost estimate. It's to replace the dash! It says the following:

Concern: Customer states truck did not come with suede dash pad.

Correction: NVH Pad - Dash - Remove and Replace

Instrument Panel - Top Pad Assembly - Suede (1819654-02-E)

Cost Amount: $0

So my question to you all is would you go through with the replacement? I've grown accustomed to the look of the perforated dash look. I'm sure it's probably easier to clean as well. I've never seen the actual suede dash in person, so any insight would help! FYI I'm Scheduled for Mid-August for this service, so got some time to decide.

If they are offering a free replacement (sure seems they are) I'd approve in a heartbeat. At the same time, you never know when they'll break something in the process, but you already took that risk bringing it in, so why not proceed? I'd do it. And be sure to tell them how awesome they are for this. Above and beyond.

I probably wouldn’t, not because suede isn’t nice, but because it’s changing how the truck came from the factory so it could hurt the resale price someday. Could also help it, who knows? Only you can decide what’s best for you, but better tell them one way or the other pretty soon here.

The cost to buy directly from Tesla is $900 and change. So it can't hurt to upgrade since the dash is only installed on the CB. Typically they would not install on the AWD because it's not an OEM part for the AWD. Do it....

Interesting that they are upgrading AWD configs to what made the Cyberbeast differentiated beyond the motors.

How cool, hands down I’d go for it, awesome of them to add it in.

don't worry, we awd owners aren't trying to be "Cyberbeast" people. We just like the nice things... Beast should just come with different badging and that's it. IMO all foundation should have come with the Alcantara dash regardless of trim...

So true! Especially if the purchase page shows it as having it. At the very least it could have listed what was/wasn’t included in more detail. This isn’t a customer’s fault wanting what was shown on the pictures when buying.

Although cool of them to do that, I would be afraid of all the stuff they'll break in the process. Everytime I have taken a car for them to repair something they break something else. Took a 2024 Model X for a squeaky driver seat, and they broke the seat (had to install a new one), scratched trim pieces (which required a separate appointment to correct), scratched the back seat (which remained unfixed), and punched a hole on the rear mat (which they had to replace). So, I would just stick with the dash that came with the truck. I traded the X for a CT AWD and was expecting alcantara as well, but got the same dash you did. A bit of a let down, but not a hige deal when considering what it could turn into.

I have the cyberbeast. And put Alcantara on doors and front dash.
I also uploaded a video how I did it here
