My CT is nice and quiet 99% of the time but when I hit specific bumps, I get this distinct rattle in the dash behind the steering wheel. It seems to be in the middle - ie not by my feet and not at the top of the dash. Does anyone else have it and if so, how did you fix it?

So many imperfections for the truck. Mine has center console rattle and unidentifiable rattle somewhere from the rear. Could not replicate them on demand so I'm just gonna wait until it gets worse. My expectations are very low and good luck with the service center! Which one are you going to by the way?

I'll go to Lynnwood. They have always been good to me in the past with my Y. My only issues are this rattle and a rattle from the subs. For that, I'll probably add some dynomat or something on my own.

Get out of vehicle find the intake air vent in the front of the truck, raise it to high it helps. There are two plastic things that rotate to either block air or allow air through. See if those rattle and move a lot. Maybe that is it.

Also check the plastic surrounding the steering wheel column, see if the sound comes from between the dash and where the wheel meets, those have been known for miscellaneous rattles

Any updates on this? My beast has 600 miles and it just started doing a very similar sounding rattle. Does not sound like anything from the front by suspension - it’s a very soft plastic vibrating sound. Also doesn’t happen when going over big bumps…just slight road imperfections.

I have the same two, they fix the center console it lasted one week and now it's worse. The rear sound sounds like it's coming from the center of the glass behind the center seat. Have yet to identify where it's coming from sounds like plastic ticking. Sometimes it's not very loud, sometimes you can't hear it and then sometimes it's Extremely Loud.

I had this, booked into service, drove with a tech and replicated it and after they had it for the day they told me they didn’t replicate it. I did my own investigation and traced it to the plastic trim below the steering wheel (wrapping the column as it enters the dash). I just squeezed it a bit (which can replicate it) and never heard it again. That was in the first 100 miles, I am now at around 7,000 miles.

Sorry, forgot to update this. I scoped out an area next to the service center where I could always reproduce the rattle and made a service appointment. Once I arrived, I took the tech on a ride and showed it to him. There were able to fix it.

Concern: Customer states: Other · Interior - There is a rattle coming from under the steering wheel down in the footwell area. It happens at various speeds over different types of bumps. I can take the tech on a test drive to demonstrate

Repair Notes: I removed the Steering Column Shrouds and added additional NVH preventative materials to help mitigate any further noise concerns. I took the technician that did the initial test drive with the client to verify with me that the original concern was no longer present and that the concern has been resolved.

I have this exact same issue and I'm willing to put $100 on that rattle being from the push clips that slot into the dashpad itself.

I had a similar issue with my S and since it was out of warranty I took apart the door panel and stuck some sound deadening in the area the clip mounts to (not the area where it clips into) and it fixed it.

My guess is that there's just enough give in the areas where the blue plastic clips meet to allow it to rattle during certain resonance. I was able to replicate it by giving the dash pad a nice smack with my hand and I get the same rattle.

I have a love hate relationship with those clips because they break but you can replace them, but with the ability to replace them comes some mobility.

You are spot on!

But I'm afraid to mess with it to "try" to fix it and end up making it worse.
