What’s a strike and how do you get one?

A strike is not looking at the road or not moving the wheel when it tells you to. Its called FSD Jail, and you cant use it anymore once its locked. The strikes decay at a rate of one per week.

Usually "improper use" refers to a failure to "supervise". The screen should start flashing blue around the edges when you've looked away from the road for too long, and becomes a strike if you fail to quickly return your view forward.

Tesla hasn't updated the Cybertruck manual with FSD yet, but here is the relevant section from the Model 3 manual on strikes.

"Use of Autosteer and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is suspended for a week when you or another driver of your vehicle receives five Autopilot "strikeouts." A strikeout is when the Autopilot system disengages for the remainder of a trip after the driver receives several audio and visual warnings for inattentiveness."

It's not for a normal disengagement, it's supposed to be for when the vehicle detects you doing something you shouldn't, like looking at your phone or taking a nap.

I used FSD for OVER 30 miles past 2 days never asked me once to put my hand on steering wheel..

I think the camera does good job.. I was texting this time

I ignored the warning .. didn’t think that serious

Yeah FSD gets PISSED if you touch your phone. Prepare to feel like your parents are watching you and yelling at you again ;)

I think any of us with extensive FSD experience have noticed that. I enabled FSD for my trip home, sure I never didn't pay attention or be ready to take over but it never once asked me to grab the wheel like my previous Tesla's.

The new FSD must be focusing on literally your attentiveness related to your head position and field of view.

I was really frustrated with the over-the-top monitoring using FSD on my MY, but after some reflection, it’s totally legit. I’d rather be alive or spare someone else’s life than look at my phone too much. It’s annoyingly comforting. Annoying being the key root word. The future will tell, Big Brother.

This is my first Tesla, and I'm new to the whole FSD (Full Self-Driving) experience. Last week, I had a Model X loaner with the latest FSD software.

While driving the Model X in FSD mode, I found it frustrating that it constantly required me to firmly grip the steering wheel—not just lightly touch it—every time.

The Cybertruck will only prompt you if you're not paying attention to the road, which is a night-and-day difference compared to the Model X. I believe this is due to the in-cabin camera
