Looks, shmooks...I don't want a door on my fender. Just more $#@! to go wrong on one of the most vulnerable parts of the vehicle.

Haven't seen this one before, apparently it's from the Peterson Museum? Source:
They moved the charge port to the wheel cover thing a long time ago but the logo is nice. I wonder if it will be on the production version.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s a REALLY BAD idea to put the charge port exactly where all the mud, water, sand, and ice tend to accumulate on my current truck fender?
I never liked it on the fender and hope they find a more practical and aesthetic place for it.

The moved the charge port from the fender to eliminate a cut/weakness in the exoskeleton.

I guess they could put it behind the rear license plate, but that might look weird during charging...

Apply the KISS principle.

That photo looks like it came from Tesla taken in a studio environment.

Really difficult with the tailgate down and a load on top.

So long it's behind the front wheel as to avoid being destroyed in a frontal collision.
I don't like the Rivian placement in the front bumper, just looking for trouble there too.

My first car was a Mercedes 1969 S280, that had a it's tank filler behind the rear plate and it was great at petrol station, you could pull in any way you like and never get it wrong.

I think it would work in a CT as well, even for towing wouldn't be an issue at all to access. It's only a bit annoying to duck under if the tailgate is down, but it's unlikely anyone will tow and have the tailgate down, unless they plan on ripping it off.

Would be easier to implement a emergency charge cable release as well.

As in “Drive aways”?

Moot point if interest rates sky. Homeless and desperate will drive away with those charge cables anyway. Suspect EV future will be BYC(Bring your cable) but the acronym will be fancier.

So, if we are picking sides, I'm on team de-fender. But, does that mean I am going to fight to keep it on the fender or does it mean I want it off the fender? <shrug> Tesla will be somewhat limited as to where they can put the charge port due to the relatively short length of the charge cables on the SuperChargers.

For clarity, could we define "fender"?
Is the fender the Stainless part, or the black part?
