To me it looks like they combined the tonneau cover opening/closing control, together with the tail gate release all in one recessed interface.

Take that back, I think it's tailgate release.
I'm thinking the same thing, hopefully it's powered up & down. I also hope they do something different to keep standing water, dust, grime from collecting in there

Thats tonneau open/close and tailgate up/down.
First makes sense to be there. Second one will suck for anyone running a topper.

That bottom icon is a side view looking at the right side of the cybertruck, you can see half of the wheel well, the rear of the bed shape and a lowered tailgate sticking out to the left.

Squat control would more likely be on the Tesla vehicle app. You're more likely to want to control the tonneau at the bedside as necessary for your load.

Opens up the sail pillar storage, the whole side of the truck lifts up now. That’s why the icon there shows it like that.

(Mostly kidding… but only mostly)

Hmmm.... is mud and other debris going to get all built up inside that recessed area? Am I going to be getting my hand all wet trying to press buttons after a rain? Will this be a point of growth for mosquito larvae if I leave the truck out in the shade after a storm? Is my 3 year old going to use it as a little pocket to hold her latest chocolate treat and then let it melt in the sunshine?

I don't know...

There is probably a way to avoid these buttons by using the Tesla app or the big screen in the cabin.

Bottom icon is almost certainly a powered tailgate

here’s an analogous icon design from my Lightning app

Tesla Cybertruck Any idea what this option is…(pic) 2882FA79-BF76-4470-B643-AC2F3A50B99C

For what it’s worth to the extent it’s at all telling of the market and Tesla’s response - Lightning’s power tailgate is controlled by:

• button in the app
• physical button on the dash (to left of steering wheel)
• virtual button buried in center stack screen
• physical button embedded in handle of tailgate
• key fob button

same goes for the powered frunk operation

this CT button location is where both the vault cover and tailgate release (unpowered) we’re located in the alpha
