not quite
I read that article and I stand by my statement. They should have called it what you and the article say it does and not a wind tunnel.

I thought somebody mentioned it can also add water to the air to test for water incursion.

No no, sorry: we agree on it not being a wind tunnel proper, it being for less precise purposes, etc.

reread your post, and that’s all you were saying

for some reason I had previously misread aerodynamics into your post - and was being literal about the “not quite” only to that extent

as penance, a sick photo from Ames wind tunnel

I am also happy to see anything Cybertruck, this included. I was unhappy when folks on Joe's Patreon page insisted on calling it a wind tunnel, and I apologize for my training and work history as an aerospace engineer but that is just the way it is.

I think this unit will be used to determine how quickly CYBERTRUCK can go thru the production line. I think I heard Elon say* that wind resistance would be the limiting factor for production speed. They say it takes 40 seconds to make the Model Y, so assuming a mile of total production line, those cars are doing 90 mph thru that sucker!!!

I read somewhere** that CYBERTRUCK will be produced at 130 mph so construction processes will need deal with that kind of wind. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of it happens in a vacuum.

The good news is, that at that speed, Tesla will be able to produce 1,000,000 CYBERTRUCKS in 28 hours. They'll be able to push thru their whole backlog in under a week!!!

*I "heard" it while I was sleeping, it MIGHT have been a dream
**if you read CYBERTRUCK's top speed spec and confuse it with production speed...?

My office used to be the closest thing (a trailer) to that tunnel.

No way that's a wind tunnel. It's a CONEX box with a contraption attached to the front for some unknown purpose.

Amazing

On a different but related topic: I’ve always wanted anted to better wrap my mind around what goes into the supersonic tunnels like the 10X10. Like, I can read the words that describe how it works, but it’s such a seeming feat that the words don’t alone leave me feeling like I understand.

Oops, I thought that pic was the full scale tunnel. My trailer was outside the full scale tunnel. The hypersonic was across the center. One of the fascinating things is that all/many of the wind tunnels were fed by the same air system.
