Do we think the rear view mirror will be a camera system? I was hoping we'd be able to see the illumination in the cab at night

Way cool, was it another "bulletproof" glass test drive?

Overall much better than the αlpha, in many ways.

But -- I want some internal reinforcement stiffeners where the rear fender flares are mounted, because there are slight ripples in the stainless that I don't want to keep seeing or get noticed.

Before I get pounced on, I'm just trying to make the Cybertruck a success for scaling you all. Fixing problems early is much better than letting them get replicated, because if I see it in a video, many others will too - especially closer up in real life.

Yep. as my grandpa used to say ;
Pull up the sapling as soon as you can so you dont have to buy a chainsaw later.

and yeah... that ripple in the sides is a HUGE thing for me. its gotta be FLAT, DEAD FLAT.
Also it makes me wonder about a 'drumming' sound coming from flexing panels on the sides. How much of that noise and wind noise are gonna to get into the cabin? I HATE HATE wind noise and most Teslas are kinda noisy on the interior...

Counting these as reflection posts lol

inb4 the complaints about the reflections

Someday, if I live long enough, I'm going to see one of these videos shot by someone who isn't taking their very first video... on a potato.

Though, I suppose it's better to have poor video than no video so thanks
At least it was taken in Landscape Mode instead of Portrait. So they must not have been a complete beginner. Let's count our blessings...

Tesla may have switched to a thinner, hence lighter, stainless steel. It may be 2mm thick now instead of 3mm, hence the ripples that can seen in the quarter panel.

I remember reading that Elon wanted 4mm thick SS but the request was shot down due to weight. A 4mm SS door supposedly weighed 90 pounds. Tesla went with 3mm SS and it reduced 30 pounds of weight.

You can also see a depression on the passenger side quarter panel just ahead of the tailgate.

For reference;

-4mm is roughly 2 nickels stacked
-3mm is roughly 2 quarters stacked
-2mm is roughly the thickness of a nickel

why is every sighting video 5 seconds long?
and why do they always pan jerkily away from the easily centered subject as if whatever they are panning away to is remotely important. maybe im spoiled coming from an extensive photo/video background, but to me it seems like this is very basic framing that should not be as hard as 95% of these videos make it out to be.

keeping the camera focused on the subject is absolutely no different/harder than what you would do without the camera in your hand... JUST LOOK AT THE TRUCK! Would you turn your head away and look at the back seat if you were sitting in a car driving next to a cybertruck that you so desperately wanted to see? no.. then why would you pan your camera away?!

I like the guy's mesmerized reaction.

I think we are going to see a lot of people admire and lost for words. Like seeing their favorite movie star walk past.

I've driven more miles without a third brake light than with one. And many of those cars had brake lamps about as bright as a gathering of fireflys. In fact, most motorcycles I've ridden only had one brake light.

So, I'm going to say the word "hazardous" doesn't mean what you probably think it means considering there are probably only a handful of pre-production Cybertrucks driving around with only two small brake lights.

I'm sure at the cost of making this truck more affordable putting thinner SS in non high impact areas would make sense. Rear quarters and front fenders and also the whole frunk assembly that lifts up. All cost and weight savings will keep the cost way down as SS is still pretty expensive.

Hmmm... But if it's a structural exoskeleton, won't it all need to be the same thickness? It doesn't seem like there'll be "panels" except for the doors & frunk.

If there are no side sail storage, i think he would say hey we made the frunk huge and more useful for storage. Also exoskeleton is prob just marketing speak to make the outside structure sound more durable, and I'm sure the doors are all 3mm SS along with the tail gate. If you can make half of the "exoskeleton" of a thinner cheaper lighter material to make the vehicle more affordable, that's their ultimate end game, so be it. Hopefully we get some more details TMR.
