Apologies if a similar thread already exists, but I was curious if anything might cause people to opt out of the Cybertruck as we get closer to launch.

After final specs, pricing and performance figures are released is there something specific that would lead you to cancel your reservation?

How about once test drives are available?

For me (and many others) a price change beyond 10-15% of the initial figures would be a deal-breaker. If the CT felt unwieldy and un-parkable in the city that would also cause some hesitation.

Otherwise, I'm all in ...barring some unforeseen pitfall.

There are definitely features I will be disappointed not to have if they fail to be included. V2L in at least 240V/30A, for example. The ramp.

For my use case the midgate would definitely be a huge plus. That and the Ultium replaceable / upgradable battery modules are the only pluses in the Silverado's favor. Who knows how high up the price ladder GM will put the midgate, though. Would be nice if Tesla would make the mid gate an option on the CT and wipe out that advantage.

But honestly it would take a pretty serious design flaw to knock CT out of my ranking it number 1. Something worse than the caliber of Rivian's half shafts popping out...

Plastic isn't bad; it slides more easily,

I do miss the bed liner in my old truck. I could slide the entire content of the bed (yard trash) into the dump container in a few seconds. My new truck bed is sprayed and has too much friction for that to happen. Not back friendly.

I have had bedliners in my last two trucks and if the CT doesn't have one, I would probably add it after market.

You'll want 15:01, btw. Plastic isn't bad; it slides more easily, scratches don't cause corrosion... Gotta use the right material for the right thing. The wrong plastic would be bad, just like the wrong metal would be bad.

My 2013 Tacoma has a composite (plastic) bed and I've had all sorts of things in it. It's never rusted, never cracked or dented. It gives a bit, which is a good thing. I've seen heavily dented metal beds that rust as the first scratch. I'd take a plastic composite-type bed over a metal bed any day. It's lighter and stronger than the cheap, thin sheet metal beds. I'm not saying Tesla needs to use an expensive carbon-fiber bed, I'd rather they use something that could be easily and inexpensively replaced.

Deal breaker #1 would be <500 miles of range. For me, there is no conversation without this spec.
Once the range is in place...
#2 If it wasn't 4x4 or AWD I wouldn't buy it.
Once I know I have the range and AWD in place...
#3 Price. I know I'm going to have to pay, what I would call a premium over the ICE truck I would buy instead. The premium I pay must have a break even point that makes sense for me. That is about 10-12 years at the most. Essentially what I'm talking about is gas cost vs home electric cost, plus insurance costs differences.
#4 35" tires. I get 500 miles out of my leveled with 35s, 4x4 F150 with 136,000 miles on it today. I expect the same.
#5 Battery guarantee. Better be better then what is offered now. See deal breaker #1 and #4 (regarding the miles on my truck). I expect something at least comparable.

So if the 500 mile variant 4x4 or AWD CT is much more then the launch price, I'm out. It won't make $ sense for me.

I'm thinking out loud a little bit here, but I'm not talking 10% different. Realistically...it will have to be less then 5%. So...under $81k with my $7k FSD pricing.

If the top spec costs a lot more than the Model X Plaid, yeesh. How much more, exactly? I don't know. But, at that point I have to start asking myself some serious questions . . .

. . . like, if my wife would ever bother looking up the price.
I thought you were saying you'd rather just by a Model X plaid at that point.
I am with you on that if that's the case. An SUV with towing capability is fine with me if the truck is more expensive. I think the 5000lb towing capability of a properly equipped Model X would do fine for my needs, so I'm not going to pay more than Model X prices for a cybertruck. That'd be the deal breaker for me.

Pretty much guarantee it won't get 500+ miles while towing 7,500lbs. You are basically asking for 1,000 miles of range unloaded.

I think 250 miles is more realistic looking at the F150 and Rivian. The battery would have to be absolutely massive to get over 500 miles while towing (only 1 EV currently can do this without towing).

A comparison for you:
R1T gets about 140 miles range when towing over 7,000 lbs.
A Lightning made it 80 miles towing 6,000 lbs.

It appears we aren't getting a mid-gate, I doubt we get V2L, but my deal breakers are:

- Range: I want 400 miles unloaded at interstate speeds.
- Backseat head space- It looks short. Can't be too short.
- Interior room- Needs to be as big or bigger than the Y for seating.
- Center Console- I wouldn't get it if the console isn't functional with a phone charger, nice cup holders, storage, etc in exchange for a center seat.

I really want a screen behind the wheel like in the S/X (would pay extra for this). I also want some automated trailer backup like Ford has. I love that my wife can back my boat with this.
