Time stamped discussion of CT. Not sounding optimistic on the pricing.

I interpret his 3X comments RE “we’ll see what demand is” are indirect references to this pricing question

If at this event he’s pegging 250K/year after the s-curve, is interesting

Sounded to me like he was referring to the production cost efficiency.
Might be in denial though

Agreed. Sounds like they need to know demand a little better to determine cost. I bet they could stick to original pricing if demand is high. I still think they'll keep it under $80k IRA limit. I don't see them producing 250-500k/year if you price it higher

MSRP's and trim levels are the biggest elephants in the room.

Reservation holders like myself need to have a Plan B just in case. I currently have three.

Tesla might price the CT in the stratosphere to help recoup nearly 4-years of constant development costs.

I mean, I'm all in. But if I'm priced out I'm priced out.

R1S reservation looking mighty nice rn

When King Elon states that the CT will be difficult to make affordable that's a bad omen. Get ready for sticker shock later this year.

My gut feeling is that Elon couldn't stop adding the latest and greatest technology into the upcoming Cybertruck. More gadgets and gizmos equal higher MSRP's.

All production vehicles have "nearly 4-years of constant development costs"

As the truck gets closer to production the more I realize how expensive the Cybertruck is going to be. The premium Tri/Quad trim will most likely be offered first with the lower Dual Motor trim being offered later.

If new MSRP’s are 40% than 2019 numbers you are going to see a lot of disappointed reservation holders and cancellations.

The key to disrupt the market with the CT is the price.

Also, only tesla fan would want an oddly looking tesla truck, but if the price is lower than any other pickup everybody that need a pick up will buy it!
I agree that it needs to be the affordable, rugged, do-everything truck. It will not do well if it gets positioned at a Hummer-like price.

I think there’s some conflation going on here

It’s one thing to say “initially and for a while the CT will be priced higher than hoped, until they can optimize manufacturing costs and ultimately through volume reach a larger segment of the pricing market” - which I think is the only rational version of Elon’s aspirations

It’s another, irrational, thing to say instead “the CT will be proved higher than hoped so will never be priced for a larger segment” or the inverse corollary “the CT must be priced affordably right off the bat or it will never sell in the volumes Musk intends”

Elon’s exact message today was that it’s difficult to dream up and execute an entirely new manufacturing process for a vehicle, and even more difficult to then produce and sell those vehicles affordably…. at least initially
