The pre-order numbers don't mean anything. It's a $100 refundable deposit. If Tesla wants real numbers, make it $1k non-refundable and you'll see the real demand (we'll only see this number at launch). The preorders can only be used to show the demand for the truck at the prices they announced back then. And half of those were not the $70k model. I also see almost no demand for S/X priced Cybertrucks. I can see them rolling it out like the 3 and price it 10-20k higher at launch. But that won't last long, as demand will cave. Even Elon knows this as he stated they plan to produce 250k/year. That number tells you they plan to be, price-range wise, below the S. Plus, there are plenty of Lightning's for $80k+ and you don't have to wait to get one if you're willing to pay. Problem is, very few are.
You can't make it $1k non refundable without confirmed and locked specs and a total price that is locked in at time of$1k deposit. Otherwise you are fooling yourself as a company that you are getting any more than a handful of rich guys who money of no object for. Cause you are just robbing people if you take their $1k with a suggested price and then hit them with a sticker shock at point of bill due.

This is how I feel every time Elon talks about Cyber Truck pricing. . .

That seems like the opposite of what he said, though. The words he used was 'It has to be affordable.'

So I don't know who you're listening to, because it doesn't seem to be Elon.

I would not consider buying any of those.

would also be at best an unenforceable contract, and at worst illegal in many states - including the state where Tesla *was* headquartered at the time of unveil

Just curious what everyone's opinion is on how much you are willing to pay for a CT before saying it's not worth it.
I am interested in the 2 motor with long range. Would be willing to suffer a 20% price increase. But I must say, I purchased the Y duel motor and there is an annoying squeak like I am crushing a mouse when I go over bumps. I have been trying to locate it for months... and the techs say they can not hear it. If I pay more than 20% over the price I reserved, then it f*ing better not squeak!

If you think FSD software development has been stagnant, you haven't been using it. I have been using it since its inception and the difference between the latest version and the introductory version is night/day. FSD has improved by leaps and bounds (but you might not know it if you haven't had access to it) .

Using Tesla's price increases on a product that has at least tripled in reliability and capability since they first started taking FSD pre-orders to imply they have done something nefarious, is misguided at best, disingenuous at worst. Did you know that those who pre-ordered it at the $5,000 price have not had the price raised on them at all? That once you pay for FSD, you get all the subsequent updates for free?

Did you know that no one is forcing you to buy FSD, either back when it was only $5,000 or now that it's increased in value and price to $15,000? Whether that's worth it to any given individual is up to that individual's circumstances but there is nothing nefarious about charging more for a greatly improved product. No one is being forced to buy that product.

Only someone falling into one of the two following categories would claim that FSD software has remained stagnant:

1) Those completely ignorant of how much FSD has advanced in terms of reliability and functionality.
2) Those out to discredit Elon/Tesla, anyway they can.

Oh, there is a third category that includes people belonging to both 1&2 categories. We can call that category 3. Which one do you fall into?

High nickel is appropriate, given the fact that you’ll need a stack of nickels that is as tall as Pike’s Peak to buy one
Let's look at the facts:

Height of Pikes Peak: 4,302.3 meters
Thickness of a nickel: 1.95 mm
Number required: 2,206,307.6
Value of nickels: $110,315.38

Can I put you down as another misguided soul who thinks the Cybertruck will cost into the six digits?

Yes, Cybertruck will be priced higher than the reveal prices in 2019. No, it's not gonna be in the six digits! Why won't this unsupported notion die?

I have only one explanation: The Cybertruck is so awesome and so desirable that people simply can't fathom that they could own one for less than $100,000! Because there is little in the way of actual evidence Tesla will price them so high. Not gonna happen.

Have you tried a Tesla Mobile Service Tech for your suspension squeak? Did you know they will come right to your house?

Is the squeak more common at the start of your drive or at the end of a long drive? If it happens regularly, it shouldn't be too difficult to get a Service Tech to hear it. It probably just needs a short spray of LPS-1 dry lubricant on the offending part. maybe where the suspension springs are seated.

No one seems to be putting all the pieces of the puzzle together. Cybertruck production for 2023 will only be 3 or 4 months. It may well all be tri-motor 500+ mile range trucks, going for about $90k before add-ons. Next year, when the $7500 tax credit is up-front & fully refundable, the dual motor will come out, with perhaps 275 miles of range (half the battery) and a price well below the $80k limit for the tax credit.

I know that $49k for dual-motor is not possible, but I'm out if it's over $65k or so. I'd rather have 275 miles and a lower price than 325 miles at $70k+. I'm not going to sell all my stock for a down payment. I will only get FSD if my $7k reservation price is honored. I think at $60k for the dual-motor, $50k for an eventual single motor, Tesla will have no problem selling 500k per year. Anyone who needs (or "needs") 500 miles of range can pay the $90k+ and miss the tax credit.

You don't need to worry about the FSD price not being honored. The agreement is stated in black and white.

I'm hoping to pay around 60k. According to the tracker, my delivery should be around July 2026.... hopefully by then the base model will be about that. Just need 4 WD .

When I ordered in April I was given no options like these. Just put the $100 and received confirmation.

Understand. After a period of time Tesla no longer offered people to pick from the three trims and the FSD option.
