My guess is the CT Plaid will be first.

If they want to be able to justify a price at $89K or more, spec-ing Quads at launch makes sense.

On the other hand, if they need to extend the range, because the 4680 are not as efficient as they hoped, you go with fewer motors. That is what Rivian did to get to the promised 400 mile range.

I predict the Quad motor was axed due to the diminishing returns of adding a fourth electric motor. No other Tesla, including the Semi, uses a quad motor drivetrain.

I would be surprised as that would mean rivian with a 4 motor product providing better performance/capabilities…not something EM has historically tolerated

Right. The 4 motors were said to be for off road performance, not speed, at least initially.

The only thing I could find where Elon said a specific model would be first is the quad motor.

I AM NOT ELON. Ok, I've said quite a few different things, but here it is: Quad is first, then tri, then dual, single motor will be last. By December, I'll be producing all four variants.

Maybe when Elon said "4 motor variant" he was referring to the Tri-Motor, plus the wiper

The only thing I could find where Elon said a specific model would be first is the quad motor.

If you go far enough back he said that the single/dual would be first and a few days later switched to dual/tri being first, but other than that he only said what you quoted. They can change their minds at any time for any reason so I suspect most of us really don't have much more than wishes to go on.
