Hi Rick,
You and I believe the same thing about the windows...Here's why I believe it was intentional....I was at the unveiling in the front row. Watched Franz throw the shot puts or whatever you want to call them. After the primary showing of the vehicle and presentation, here's what happened while people's attention was diverted (food, drink, etc.). They rolled the working (initial) truck off the platform, and replaced it with a model that wouldn't drive (just for show). Many people didn't even notice.

Then they took the working truck with the broken windows and rolled it behind the stage (I watched) and they had a crew go to town and replace the windows. This was the vehicle that was going to be used for test rides. They got the window replacement finished and ultimately rolled the truck outside to get ready for the test rides. I asked myself..."If the windows were really not supposed to break, why would they have all the parts necessary to replace them, along with the crew of people that did the work pretty quickly"? It started to smell to me like it was planned from the beginning....And there you go....
I don't believe any of that was staged. There are so many unknowns as to how the audience and market would react that it isn't worth the risk. If anything it was smart that they had the extra parts on-hand simply because they planned to do an Armoured Glass Demonstration.

Additionally there is footage of the driver's side window successfully deflecting the ball bearing.

Matte/satin black wrap is what I’ve been thinking about. Sick.
the matte black is great. I also like the deep matte red. Honestly, it’s will be great to see all the different variations (including plain ole stainless steel!). It is getting very exciting! Let’s get the acceleration to sustainable energy accelerated! Make it so.

Rumor has been that factory wrap will be an option.

Not hard to believe they'd be trying it out.

Plus, more free advertising.
Now i think its totally going to be an option from Tesla. With likely less than 20 in the world there is no way elon wouldn't have to sign off on getting one wrapped. I bet that it will be an option. Its going to be really interesting to see what actually comes out compared to Elon's promises over the years. And i am not talking about pricing. More like floating, solar tonneau, range, upper laser blade lights.

The stainless is bound to get scratched. So it would be great to find a simple finish one could do in their driveway to clean it up.

The camo wrap is just another way to draw more attention to what’s to come. Who really believes that the 2 broken windows were not suppose to break? Of course they were going to break. They threw a shot put at a piece of glass. Had it not been for the whoops, do you really think it would have had all that free advertising and 1.8 million deposits?

The question is, are these the final design minus the wrap. Eventually someone is going to grab some video of the interior while stopped at a light or in-n-out burger.

More free publicity, more free advertising, more Tesla stock goes up. Less it’s going to be out of pocket for us that also bought shares when we put down deposits.

A win win for all us Tesla investors. Not too late to buy some shares.

Rick
Thanks for the stock tip

I'm skeptical there will be a factory option for wrapped CTs. It's just one more thing to get damaged in shipping, or to give a buyer a reason to reject ("the pattern isn't straight!").

Or perhaps they will be providing pre-cut wrap kits, for aftermarket install. And this is just a test for fit.

Graining is tricky. I am thinking to buff it to a rough level and see how that looks then if i get scratches i should be able to sand then rebuff to that same level locally. I hope.

Can you imagine taking a drum sander to someones car with .029" thick metal. I would be very nervous. Hopefully the CT sticks with 3mm so we have some thickness to work with.

did you notice on the twitter feed they show it pulling out of an in and out burger.. <it being the camo cybertruck>

laughs and Elon replied to the tweet "good thing we used camo lol" so i suspect that is NOT photo shopped.

I think really the coolest part of the CT is the stainless. Yes its interesting geometrically, but if the delorean was wrapped it wouldn't be nearly as cool. I think the wraps will be a fad for a while with the CT but then people will realize it actually took a lot away from the cars coolness.
