I expect the CT to come off the assembly line shrink wrapped like luggage in the airport.
I expect the cybertruck to be produced in dehydrated form, so that it can be transported more easily at 1/100th the size and weight. :) haha

It's real. I saw it yesterday in Mountain View also.

Gave me hope regarding my at home wrap kit idea. Camo will hide any mistakes I make and the flat surfaces will definitely work to my advantage.

I was left with some curiosity though... The bed cover was left open and I couldn't see the wrap or treatment on the folds of the tonneau cover.
Free publicity.
Excitiment.
Buzz.

There are 11 pages of chatter on here in less than 48 hours and over a half dozen news stories in print and video. Remember, Tesla does not advertise. They get lots of free advertisement by creating word of mouth.

And it is a real video, not Photoshop.
You are right. It was the video that converted me and of course that they drove through an In&Out drive through. The chatter here seems predominantly about the wrap and that is interesting. But the YouTuberVerse just looks for ways to get views and likes; they do not (in general) care about the truth of what they post. The Teslarati claim:

"Tesla Cybertruck units are rolling off production lines at Gigafactory Texas and
have been for months"

that it was made at GigaAustin and that they have been building Cybertrucks there for months was his first sentence and, as everyone here knows only too well, is completely false. So I wish you would say 'news stories' rather than "news stories" because it is questionable whether any of them are 'news'. Stories, yes.

Wait, you saw *two* vehicles in Nov 2019?

Best of my knowledge, nobody has ever identified a second OG/Concept unit. As hand built units there would almost HAVE to be some differences. How confident are you about this?
The second (maybe clay?) unit has been widely reported by people that were at the unveiling. I was not.

You are possibly correct. Your statement that “job postings have nothing to do with…” shy of serious internal knowledge, is another assumption, which MAY or MAY NOT be true.

The real question that I posed was; What if the Camo is there to cover a painted truck?

Unless your W-2 at the end of the year says TESLA on it, it is ALL speculation. I’m just suggesting there is an avenue of speculation we haven’t discussed.
Why get defensive about it? You are entitled to suggest that there is a painted truck under the wrap, but after almost 4 years since the unveiling there has never been anything said or published by Tesla that the Cybertruck would be anything but 3mm stainless. So although 'may' or 'may not' certainly cover the bases, it is weighted so far toward the 3mm stainless that most here I am sure would consider it a done discussion.

Tesla hired a paint specialist for the Cybertruck, my guess is that they will offer a select set of wraps for CT. It's a high margin item that Tesla can profit as paint is expensive.

Now i think its totally going to be an option from Tesla. With likely less than 20 in the world there is no way elon wouldn't have to sign off on getting one wrapped. I bet that it will be an option. Its going to be really interesting to see what actually comes out compared to Elon's promises over the years. And i am not talking about pricing. More like floating, solar tonneau, range, upper laser blade lights.
I believe, like they did with the Model Y right before it's official unveiling and had the "Not Model Y" wrap, this is a tongue in cheek way of Tesla conforming to the practice of using Camo prior to unveilings. Normal camo treatment for prototypes uses built-in shaping and varying pattern to change your perception of the shape of the actual vehicle. It's obvious the Cybertruck looks like the Cybertruck.

However, the wrap COULD be hiding some OTHER things and everyone is so distracted by the obvious camo that they don't notice that the wrap hides panel gaps for the hood and sail pillars...
Okay, maybe not but still... Maybe Tesla is doing that to divert attention away from something that would have been more obvious... Like, maybe they've finalized the stainless-steel finish and don't want anyone to see the final version yet.

Why would these videos be faked? Why would Elon comment as if they were real?
How dare you question a conspiracy theory applying logic and operating on the assumption that the world is essentially what it appears to be. I am going to report you to the nanobot overlords as soon as I can get my triple level tinfoil hat off.

A more reasonable interpretation would be that the world overlords *want* you to think that there is a camouflage cybertruck because they are promoting a war which has not yet begun but they need you to buy into the idea that camouflage cybertrucks are real. As a part of this more reasonable interpretation, it is clear that satanic rituals and child pornography and ritual sacrifice are practised at in n out burger and Elon Musk is gradually being forced to submit to the oligarchy of the yak masked eyes wide shut orgy party world controllers who are coercing him not to reveal the alien and demon takeover of most of the ruling class, which takeover will involve the devaluing of the fiat currency and the destruction of the world economy.

How dare you say this is just a camouflage wrapped pre-production cybertruck driving around to drum up interest in the newest offering on the tesla line.

ok for all of you that want to believe the cybertruck will be painted/wrapped/detailed/ any other thing that makes one different from another.... .SKIIP this.. cause i might bust your bubble.

One of the key things that Tesla is working on is making almost no changes to the production lines at all. think about the configurator for existing cars... the only REAL configurations that require line changes are color and tow hitch and POSSIBLY the structural battery pack <for extended range cars> <lets exclude the plaid there is a reason it costs so much!!>

it may SEAM like putting in more engines would be a major change bur really not.. you just program the robot for engine 3 to be idel .. then for 2 to be idle.... i suspect when you look inside the engine mounts are still there and everything else needed just no engine. This is a huge shift i understand from how other car companies build; if you don't need it we don't put it on the car.. if it is a $1 and we sell a million cars we made an extra million bucks..

tesla believes in losing a bit on each vehicle by putting the same pieces in ALL cars and making it up by selling more units.. and until the demand for electric cars moderates and ice vehicles ownership is MUCH lower... their plan will work.

So... if you accept that rant... why in the name of heaven would tesla ADD a paint line ?? right now the ONLY reason to slow production by changing the line is you are adding a different structural pack and that SHOULD be fairly fast and easy.. for the CT we have no paint to change, and no hitch... once they start the line at full speed they NEVER have to slow down except to change to a different sized pack!!

so NO I do NOT see tesla making the production MORE complex in any way they can avoid.. and with over 2 million orders for a cybertruck that is unpainted they can avoid wraps, and paint both.
If they put engines in the Cybertruck, it'll be a HUGE change! :p

Well, they were giving rides out in the parking lot (long line of people waiting) and people were also taking pictures of the second truck on the stage... So, yeah, I'm pretty sure....But I said earlier, the truck on the stage was not a fully functional truck (I heard someone else say that). It looked pretty good up close...
