I wonder how much range is lost with the vault open. If the rearview mirror is going to be digital, why drive with it open? Probably overthinking it.

If air flows over it like a standard truck there are those that say an open bed increases mpg. With the way air flows over the CT it will be interesting to see if if flows back into the bed and pushes the CT increasing range.

Maybe this prototype doesn't have the video mirror, or maybe the driver forgot to close the vault cover, or maybe this one doesn't have a vault cover, or maybe the range fell out of the vault, since it wasn't properly tied down, or maybe it's Maybeline? /s;):geek:

It's got a decent look for camo but I'm not a fan of repeating patterns which in this wrap occurs about every 2 or 3 feet. Not a huge deal but I think it would look better without any repeating patterns being completely unique and random over the length of the Cybertruck. My 2¢.

It's clear that Tesla are using the "camo on prototype" for three reasons.

1) there's no angles to hide that we don't know about already (and lo and behold, that's the joke).

2) they must've said to themselves, if we need to test our wrapping/give people ideas about wrapping as we near production, why not do it now and let people get excited about it

3) both the joke (#1) and giving the public a glimpse of wrapping styles (#2), gives the people even MORE reason to talk about the truck, generating buzz and - therefore - free advertising.

That's my guess anyway.

Stainless always comes (at least, the stainless I get) will a hard-to-remove vinyl layer. What if they had the imprint printed on that material so that the stainless comes that way?

Yeah it is common in the auto industry, though Tesla hasn't traditionally used it much. With the Cybertruck, they aren't trying to hide anything though... they are just trying to get attention IMO.
Like the Cybertruck needs more attention-grabbing imagery :)

I'm sure the process of cutting/bending/welding would destroy any shipping plastic.

I just made several stainless boxes with my finger brake and they did very little to no damage to that stuff. That said, I am sure that cutting and welding would. I wonder, if we were to get a super close look at those camo CTs, if we wouldn't see some damage to the vinyl. Also, the welding would be done on the inside of the panels not on the outside, right? I am only speculating here as I had never put any serious thought to the stuff that comes on stainless until everyone started talking about these camo patterns and how repeated they are. The covering that I see on stainless is often printed so that is clearly a possibility.

I recall hearing that Henry Ford had very specific packaging requirements and that he used the packaging for seats, etc.
