I did a Colorado springs to Breckenridge round trip after staying in breck a few days and it told me that we would need to charge on the way back, I ignored it and we made it with very low charge lol.
I heard it's bad for the battery to leave 10% or less. Is it true?

Not really, no. Even going down to 0% won't hurt the battery, because that's not zero volts. It will damage the pack at zero volts, but that's nearly impossible to do.

Assuming the CT is using nickel-based cells, the least degradation will be at 50% or below when storing.

If you're leaving it overnight or something yes it's less than ideal. I charged as soon as I got home

Well, at 0% it does into deep sleep, and no longer tops off the 12V (48V?) battery, so you can't even charge without "jumping" it once the low-voltage battery dies.

You should have bought the Stealth Performance Model 3 with the Aero wheels. They make a HUGE difference in range at 90 mph! Night and day difference. I forgot to put them back on for one fast trip and couldn't figure out why my range was dropping faster than expected because there was no wind. Then I remembered I didn't have the Aero covers on! And the 18" wheels are more efficient than the larger rims, even without the Aero covers.

People who care about long-distance highway range care about creating good aero. When I see people write aero off as inconsequential, I assume they either don't know what they are talking about, or they only use their car around town for shorter trips.

I have an Aero rooftop rack but would never take it on a long trip because, even with no accessories clamped to it, it drops highway range a significant amount. Great aero is magical, which is why I don't own a Model Y. Don't get me wrong, Model Y is a great car, and if you really need all that space it's a no-brainer, but sometimes less is so much more! Never underestimate the benefits of great aero for long, fast trips!
CT could have a low Cd 0.33 or as low as ~0.30. That along with those FAB aero wheel covers will make for excellent range, and keeping the speed down to ~60 mph
( ~100kph ) won't hurt either. We are maxed in Oz usually to that. 110kph is rare on some highway sections.

350 Mile range? On their web page. Tesla has a little diddy about range for the X , with only 348 miles of range. They show short trips, with the longest being San Jose to LA at 340 Miles. Well, the two major cities in Nevada, Reno and Lost Wages, are 442 miles apart. So, Model X, no dice, 94 miles short. Reno to Ely - 319 miles. 29 miles of freeboard. That is a little tight. What if I do 70 all the way? What about all the mountain ranges I have to cross? There is 2000 feet of elevation gain just between Reno and Ely. I don't think the X will make it. When I signed up for CT, the range was advertised as 500 miles. I live in Nevada and need that range. This isn't the east or west coast with major cities every 50 miles. There are signs here on major highways: "Next gas station 138 miles".

Agreed. There are two caveats here:

1) the operative word is "rumor". Why so many have their pantaloons in a bunch over a rumor is beyond me.

2) I ordered a trimotor. Nowhere in this rumor is it that the aforementioned 350 miler is a Trimotor. Assuming that the first release is a Trimotor with 350 mile range is unwarranted. Perhaps the first release is a dual motor CT with 350 miles, a bonus mileage increase.

The truth is we don't know and all the speculation over an unattributed rumor is self-flagellation.

Arbitrary? Yes. Capricious? Hardly.

And, of course, I used the phrase price is irrelevant to emphasize a point (not literally, price is always relevant). A 350 mile CT would struggle to be able to do the sort of things expected of vehicles in its category and it would be very weak versus its GM competition.
I agree with you. 150-180 towing range would suck stopping ever 2 hours.
But also, what GM competition? Lol. Ford and GM are not even on the same playing field yet considering Ford and Chevy sell all their EVs at a loss. Not sustainable. Gm claims 400+ miles but what price point and profitable? No chance. Anyone can make an EV with 500 miles of range you just put in enough batteries. But to compete you have to sell them cheap enough and have a decent profit. Tesla is the only one of those big dogs who profit right now. I smell bankruptcy Comin

The fact of the matter is, GM currently has a 450 (actual, not claimed) mile truck in production. Yes, it's a little pricey, but if Tesla really can't beat or meet that at a similar or lower price, my faith in the company will be seriously shaken.

My guess? Tri and Dual Motor will be the only drivetrain that Tesla offers.

The Quad Motor was probably shelved after the engineering team revealed diminishing returns and lower efficiency after adding a 4th motor and was axed.

Rumours are circling the Camp that employees will be offered the 'Duel' or TRI soon. This is possible once all approvals are granted. '2WEEKS' ;)

We've gone over this many times.

That's why there's chargers between those cities. You stop, maybe grab a snack or go pee and the car will be charged.

I drive through Nevada every year. There are very few routes without at least level 2 50a charging in between.

I really hate the exaggeration.

Have you driven an electric vehicle? Long range.? Your response sounds very textbook theoretical and not in tune with reality.
I have over 100,000 miles driving Tesla’s and no issue in urban environments but what’s discussed here are the longer drives and where there is not a supercharger
it’s much more than an inconvenience. It makes the trip not appropriate for an electric vehicle unless you’re retired and don’t care about time and want to spend hours and hours and hours in a Podunk town. Until your car charges.

It's always interesting when brand new people ask about the creds of members that have been prolific around here for years. Seems like if people would just hang out and get to know the regulars a bit they would learn much more about the creds and not keep requesting the experienced to rehash their histories.
