Does anyone who's running with a detector have issues with a constant laser alert at night? My detector is unusable in the dark. I have Passport V8 and V1o..

You live in Florida? I've heard anything can cause these, even sunsets or random cell phones using their IR sensors. Maybe try putting your phone in a bag? You dont have any kind of third party gesture detection going on in your cabin, do you?

Im using a Uniden R3 in my M3, and ive never had issues with laser false positives. All the standard frequencies go off all the time though, probably from collision detectors on trucks and radars on doors. After a while i kind of learned what a false positive sounds like, versus a cop that's far away. A near-by cop is unmistakable :)

It's a faulty unit and needs to be sent in for repairs.
I had that happen to an old Valentine 1.

People still use radar detectors? I thought those went out when lasers became more common... and especially once people figured out how to use Waze... I tossed my Escort radar detector out maybe 3 years ago after not using it for 2 years.
Yep... Me, too.

Waze works great on the interstate with all the truckers, but we have a lot of what we call FM (farm to market roads that are 4 lane and plenty of places for cops to hide and a radar detector is a life safer. I can't tell you how many tickets mine has saved me, a few a year min. I've got a heavy foot. But.. I need waze and radar.

Oh man… ha. What are the odds that both of my systems go out. I guess now I have an excuse to get a new unit 🤷🏽‍♂️

Won't do shit for you here in Austin.

Nobody uses a CB here.
It's all Waze and radar detectors, waze only really being useful on the highway.
The cops get you on all the busy main streets here in open spaces where there are hills and places to hide. You can get notified that they are zapping people ahead of you and be on alert.

For those that currently own a Tesla, which radar detector do you use? I currently have a Valentine One on my FPace (Tampa Florida) and have heard good things about the Uniden R7.
I own 2 Teslas and I do not speed so I would not need a radar detector. Nor would I encourage speeding by recommending one. Hopefully my Tesla will protect me from people that use radar detectors. I wonder if there is a way to detect radar detectors, grab the plate number, and send it to the police with a snapshot of the plate and the sensor detection. I already wrote a [similar] patent application where cars act in a hive capacity to "turn in" other cars that are violating traffic laws.
