I know plasti-dip gets a bad rap but I did my last truck and it was awesome!

CT would be sooo easy to do. And when you want to change colors you just do more on top of old!

Man, I thought my truck was ugly (a bone-stock blue 2010 F-150 XLT SuperCab). I mean it's really ugly. But I have to say, your truck takes the cake! ?

That price, if true, is OUTRAGEOUS! My thinking is either:

1. Tesla has developed some space-age materials using CRISPR engineered spider silk, that lowers aerodynamic drag and can withstand abrasion from anything softer than garnet. OR...

2. Will be using the wrap price as an explanation why the price at launch is so much higher than the reveal event price estimates. Sounds better than "Dealer Market Adjustment". They'll concoct some explanation why all of the trucks off the line the first year or two had to have wraps included.
It's not a "either #1 or #2", Tesla knows a certain percentage of people will opt for a wrap option, if they offer it. This can be used to moderate the price they advertise the truck. No way in hell could Tesla service centers handle wrapping every Cybertruck off the lines without building out a huge new business overnight. So #2 is out.

All it will take if for Tesla to know that around 20% of initial deliveries (and 5-10% over time) will buy OEM wrap option. Knowing the option uptake rate, Tesla can offset the inefficiencies of bringing such a radical new product to market without charging an arm and a leg for it, or going deep into the hole (like legacy makers are with their electric trucks).

It's pretty smart move, let those whose most pressing need is to be seen in something different looking, and for who money is no object, pay for those who just want a great truck at a great price!

Ford and GM are probably kicking themselves right now, wondering why they didn't think of this first! I mean, Why didn't the Harley-Davidson edition of the F-150 come with a Harley wrap? And why isn't the Raptor available with a cactus wrap? Or a "splashed mud" wrap? They could even have carpenter wraps, plumbing wraps, electrician wraps and rodeo wraps. They know truck buyers like to personalize their trucks and yet they missed this opportunity and let Tesla lead the way.

There really is no point in wrapping a cybertruck to protect it, and with all the surfaces being flat, it should be less labor intensive so I can't imagine why anyone would spend that much having it done.

I agree, nothing says "flex....looky looky at me please" louder than putting inferior vinyl on a diamond.

The rumored price for the factory CT wrap is nuts.
I think that price is intentionally prohibitive

Tesla does not want to be doing a bunch of factory-installed wraps, of all things

this isn’t a price that reflects a reasonable markup on parts/labor, it’s a price that reflects the point at which Tesla is willing to deal with suchparts/labor

$8k to $12k for a wrap you could DIY at 1/20th the price? no thanks. The diminishing list of features is also disappointing. I'll wait for final details to decide, but am considering a cancellation.
Sorry to see you you go but love to watch you leave….

It's not going to be that much. Nobody in their right mind would pay $12K for a wrap that's as easy to put on as the Cbtrk will be. If I wrap, I'll do it at home. Easy with flat surfaces.

Yes

Hence, why I reckon there will be services such as 'work from home', springing up IF wrapping takes off to another level.

Charging a grand + COGS to install it over a few days would attract some customers, and be reasonable income.

That's not to say shops will lose business, they will be as busy as ever. Just a wider customer base with different needs.

that's cool, whatever!
I dont care how much is a CT wrap until I know how much is CT..
Rumor has it CT roof racks will start around $500.
You will be able to get Wheel locking lug nuts for somewhere around $75

Ok, I kinda pulled those numbers out of my ass, but they are based on real prices on the Tesla Shop, so no different than the wrap pricing.
