its funny how people think a vehicle is worth that much and pay that much. A truck 70-100k? It's crazy how prices are these days. Homes went in 2 years from ave 600k to 1.3mil in my neighborhood. WTF? So, no, not paying inflation prices at this time. Things will crash yet again. Anyone want to buy my 112 res for 50k?
This thread is about the possibility of 59k. I think you meant to put your rant in the other similar but different thread lol

I don’t need a CT. It has to be a compelling upgrade (based on my values) to get it at $60K and losing money on trade in. Like 130 KWh battery and much faster real world charging than my current truck. Or if opening superchargers does not work out as well as I thought. Even with all that, it depends on how the reviews go after It comes out, how much the insurance cost, ….. basically, it will be a practical decision for me not an emotional one.

At $50K it is much More likely that I compromise on somethings that is important to me (like lack of spare tire).

Lightning pro. Less than a year old.
Fair enough.

That's why I didn't let myself get another EV truck. I knew I'd run into that exact situation lol

It was easier to say no to Rivian even at discounted price but a $40K ($32.5 K with tax incentive) dual motor Lightning was hard to pass. It fits my use case. The main reason to switch to CT for me would be better long distance travel experience; currently, I depend on the wife’s ICE for anything over 400 miles because I don’t want to deal with planning and charging uncertainties.

For sure. Great deal. I couldn't get myself into a bare bones EV truck personally. My personality dictates that I have some luxury to mine lol.

I'm sure it's in here somewhere but I did wrestle with the idea of grabbing an XLT.

I just knew that I'd want CT when it came out for sure.

Helps that I'm in the first 50k res.

For me, it's Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) after 2~3 years. My electric truck will be towing my Airstream trailer to every green spot on the North American map until I'm ready to check out the green spots on a European map. I choose Airstream because of it's low rate of depreciation, and figure that CyberTruck will hold its value better than any other electric pickup truck over my expected time horizon.

The sticker price is irrelevant (yeah, I know I'm lucky*) all I care about is resale value. Given how far away from the back of the line my reservation is, I think depreciation is the least of my worries. With any other type or brand of tow vehicle the 3 year depreciation rate is ~3% to 20% (HD trucks do very well) and with people who've already reserved a CT today, still waiting in 3 years, I just might get my sticker price back when I leave the continent. If that's the case, the only downside to paying over $100k would be the lost interest on the money I paid.

Is CyberTruck's continued desirability certain? No, but it's a risk I'm willing (and able) to take. So if I can get a dual** motor for $60k??? ? Give it to me baby!!!

*lucky? or prudent?
**will a duel motor tow a #9000 travel trailer? I'm confident, yes, and need to start a thread outlining why.

The words “luxury“ and “truck” can not coexist in my head but I get what you are saying. I have owned cars that have made me feel better about my life and I knew that as soon as I saw them. None of the trucks in the market at any trim level gave me that feeling. Certainty is a good thing. I am sure you will enjoy your CT.

I refuse to tell Tesla I want to spend more money. That seems foolish.

This is a very good point for us all to keep in mind. I think this forum is more influential than people realize. There's regular press coverage that sources something posted here first (see the VIN decoder). If there's any message we want to make clear about pricing, it's:

I'M CANCELLING MY RESERVATION IF THE TRUCK IS 1 CENT OVER $49K AND SELLING ALL MY SHARES!!!!!
YOU HEAR THAT?! I'LL DO IT!

I'LL CLOSE MY X ACCOUNT TOO!

You are not wrong. An article on CNN yesterday(Link) is based off of the VIN decoder thread on here, and the headline is rather misleading since it says "Federal document reveals Tesla Cybertruck won’t be cheap, but it will be heavy" which is a rather misleading headline since the VIN decoding has nothing to do with price, and nothing in the article even backs up that headline.

at 59 k USD, this will result in a price of 80.3 k CAD in Canada plus 10.5 K CAD in taxes and no 7.5 k grant like the US.

As I will be buying it with my M3 trade-in and selling some of my tesla stock, it seems reasonable following the crash in tesla stock and it is my back up plan for the tri-motor depending on its price and how high or low the stock is a year from now.
