Edit...
Never mind, scratch what I said. No need to give examples. Honestly, I don't even give a shit what your reasons are.

Sorry, so many are so disappointed. I'll give the site a few days to dry off and clear out.

"Other"

Delivery not soon enough!!!

The dual motor version is priced the same as the Model X. No surprise--both are similar: range, interesting tech, unique.

Price of the dual motor Cybertruck at $80k is the same as Rivian R1T with "road" wheels and base "LA Silver" paint. Range is similar, slight advantage to Rivian. However, if the Cybertruck range is with the typically pictured off-road (and likely "3 Peak" tires), a better comparision to Rivian is to the off-road wheels (less range, plus $4k option, with a spare).

Conclusion: Range and price are very similar for these two EV trucks.

I have a day-one reservation for the tri motor. Will most likely purchase the dual motor (as I would if I purchased the Rivian, as I want range). WIth Colorado and Federal tax credits, price will be $67,500 after tax reductions to price and tax rebates. $30k more for tri-motor is tough economics.

Concept of bolt-on extra battery is interesting. Espically if it can be rented in one month increments.

Cybertrck weighs 500 pounds less than the Rivian R1T.

Already have one. 2015 F-150 with a V-8. It doesn't even have the larger fuel tank and has a 500 mile range.
When's the last time you stayed in it for 500 miles without stopping to get out? Oh, and can you outrun a Porsche 911 while towing a trailer loaded with a Porsche 911? Will your cost per mile be 4.5 cents instead of 20 cents?

No? No?

So you don't really 'already have one' at all. Comparing used to new is not relevant also. You need to compare a new alternative, to a new Cybertruck if you're going to try being fair and objective about it.

Tesla nailed it - their market research is far more extensive than the reaches of this forum. The CT beats the crap out of the competition. See ground clearance, speed, comfort, UI, and everything else that comes with Tesla - which we seem to quickly take for granted. This truck dominates it's class upon release. BTW - look at reliability ratings lately - Tesla dominates there too. Looking forward to my used Model 3 fetching a premium after the early reservation CT in my driveway drives ICE neighbors bonkers.

Elon warned a few weeks back in the shareholders meeting it would take time for Cybertruck to be cash flow positive. That means of course Tesla was constrained on costs while maintaining standards of features and quality.

Anyone who wants to act like Tesla was going to pull a magic rabbit out of a hat with cheaper manufacturing, cost efficiency etc. are forgetting that these things don't happen unless manufacturing is at scale anyway.

It's possible that prices could decrease a little down the road after manufacturing ramp up, but realistically I wouldn't hope for that until at least 18 to 24 months from now minimum, when a lot of other things economically will hopefully be starting to get fixed as well.

OMG. The tears are insane.

People cherry pick two specs and cry like their mother just hit them.
I might have to take a few weeks off from the forum so that the people who placed all of their hopes and dreams on getting a $70k CT that would tow 14k and get 500 miles in range finally burn out.
My challenge to all the broken hearted... go out tomorrow and buy the truck with all the specs you're pissed the CT didn't give you. Go ahead.
Cherry pick two specs? You mean price and range, the two most important specs since day 1 of EV's trying to make a case for themselves. They made a case at the 19' reveal and then failed to make the same case at the delivery. We can easily buy 500+ mile range, full size truck, 4x4 and add 35s for well under $80k. At $70k and 500 miles of EV range it was barely making the case for me. Now a lot more $ and a lot less range means I'll keep waiting.

This delivery event clearly wasn't meant to market the CT for the masses yet. Just a niche product for a while longer.

There's no EV truck out there getting a full 500 miles of range.

It's also not relevant to compare ICE range to EV range when ICE ranges costs four to five times more per mile. Would you really rather have an extra 150 miles of range in an ICE truck if it costs you an extra $55 or $60 dollars every time you filled up, compared to a recharge of an EV truck?

Cybertruck will most likely cost $15 - 20 dollars for each recharge. An ICE truck will cost $75 dollars to fill up. About 4.5 cents per mile versus 20 cents per mile.

I'd rather have only 320 miles of range versus paying four times more each time I filled up.

So range comparisons of ICE versus EV are barely relevant.

That was a demonstration to verify performance, which is applicable in most other things a truck can do as well. What each person does with their truck is their own business, but the point was about comparing performance. Many don't take their trucks to contests pulling heavy sleds for the longest distance, but they demonstrated that with the Cybertruck as well, again to show performance.

I still like knowing the Cybertruck was capable of those demonstrations, even if I would never do them myself.
