I’m surprised that not many people are asking this question in this forum. I don’t think it is simply a demand/supply problem. Listing your currently available product for any price you’d like is one thing. Creating demand/trend/marketing effects with inaccurate pre-ordering price and not to honor it or at least partially compensate customers is another thing. Now Tesla is luring me with the foundation series order but I’m not going to accept it. If officially the product arrives and the price is not the original pre-order price then I’m ready to participate the class action against Tesla.

Read your order agreement that you agreed to when you put down your original $100 deposit. GL with that.

I did read it. It doesn’t say the original price means nothing or is subject to change. In fact it says “The pre-order price of the Vehicle will be confirmed in your Vehicle Configuration and Final Price Sheet.” My understanding is the pre-ordering price IS going to be honored per the agreement.

What are you suggesting?

will be confirmed, to me, means that you will know the real pricing later

Literally the sentence after that:
"As you may have only configured part of your Vehicle, any pre-order price provided to you in advance of the Final Price Sheet is only being offered to you as an estimate and is subject to change."

Are you really THAT naive? even in 2019 those prices were outrageously low and not where market was even for ICE trucks!

It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks; the company belongs to Tesla and its stockholders.

Thanks. I actually missed this line. But since it says it is an estimate, it should still bearing some weight. I personally don’t think it could be increased by 60% percents.

You could laugh. But it is natural that everyone has his/her own opinion to the price and will take action differently. Let me quote ChatGPT

“The language you provided suggests that the pre-order price is an estimate and is subject to change based on the final configuration. However, a 50% increase could be considered unreasonable, and it's advisable to carefully review the terms and conditions of the agreement. If you have concerns, consider seeking legal advice or contacting the company for clarification before proceeding.”

maybe ChatGPT also sounds NAIVE to you?

further it says:

As a lawyer representing the consumer, I would emphasize the principle of good faith and fair dealing in contractual relationships. I would argue that the consumer entered into the pre-order agreement with the understanding that the provided price was an estimate based on the information available at the time. However, a 50% increase might be seen as disproportionate and could be considered a breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

I would also scrutinize the terms of the agreement to determine if there are any provisions that limit the extent of price adjustments or if there are any conditions that must be met for such adjustments to be valid. Additionally, I might explore consumer protection laws and regulations to assess whether the proposed increase could be deemed unfair or deceptive.

Ultimately, the goal would be to negotiate with the company for a reasonable resolution, emphasizing the consumer's reliance on the initial price estimate and the expectation of fair dealing in the transaction. If necessary, legal action may be considered as a last resort.”

Whether the company is acting lawfully is not determined by itself or its stockholder correct?

Seriously, it is probably better on law terms than you and me added together.

Of course, I suspect there is actually real consumer lawyer being cybertruck preorder customers himself/herself who is ready to take action anytime.
