The F150 Lightning isn’t selling because it’s just the same as the gas one with a battery in it. It’s not an exciting new product. And also, Ford is still selling gas ones. Lots of people are still afraid of going full electric. Given a choice, many will pick gas.

Tesla is fully 100% electric and commited to it. If you want a Tesla, it will be electric.

Perhaps in 2015 when the new versions of the lightning and silverado appear, the CT may have a run for its money. As things are looking I doubt very much if I will be buying an electric truck before then so my silverado and M3 will need to last a couple more years.

The silverado and lightning will both be able to use the tesla supercharging network as well.

I'm confident pricing will come down. Ford cutting lightning production targets in half is just one more sign that there is a limited market for $80k trucks. The difference between Tesla and Ford is that Tesla historically has chosen to ramp production to cut costs instead of cutting volumes. Hopefully in a couple more years they will have the 4680s figured out and can offer a true long range version at a somewhat affordable price. In the meantime, I just traded my 2018 model 3 for a model Y performance and will keep my old tundra for truck duties. Hopefully the cybertuck will follow the price trajectory that the y has in the last year. Between the price cuts, inventory discounts, tax credit, and the extra 1k for having a cybertuck reservation, I saved about 30k from what it would have been a year ago.
it’s a sign no one wants the lightning

Very sad for the many thatve contributed here for years to get priced out and not provided the options promised.

“Buy more Tesla stock” is a pretty tone deaf, if not delusional response
It's always good to invest capital that you don't need to spend in the next two years. I've done this since I was 28 years old, eschewing the purchase of new vehicles for well-owned older vehicles and cutting monthly expenses wherever I could without significantly impacting my quality of life, in order to boost the amount I could invest. Now I can buy whatever new car or truck I want without even putting a significant dent in it. That's due to the extreme power of compounding. I want brilliant hard-working people like Howard Schultz, Irwin Jacobs, Bill Gates, Satya Nadella and Elon Musk, etc. working for me, so I don't have to.

Save like a miser (and invest) when young, spend like a wealthy person when your retirement is well funded.

If the mileage had stayed up OR the price had stayed down, I would still be in. :-(
Your profile says you live in Monterey, CA.

Why do you think you need more than 300 miles of range? Do you want to tow a small house behind you, everywhere you go?

Maybe in a few years when my commuter car needs replacing, I will buy a cheaper tesla, but the CT will probably stay out of my reach.
If you commute a significant distance, you can probably upgrade your commuter car with a used Tesla Model 3 and come out dollars ahead to get you closer to your desire for a Cybertruck. A used Model 3 Long Range in very nice condition and 100K miles can be had for a song and save you money (over almost any ICE car) at the same time. Get one that's had the upper ball joints replaced and has good tires and laugh all the way to the bank.

Both the Lightning and Silverado are relatively slow chargers in terms of miles of range added per minute of charging. And they can't even use the entire Supercharger Network which compounds that problem. Plus, comparable versions cost just as much as the Cybertruck (and even then they are not really comparable).

Ford and GM don't mind me pointing that out considering that they lose tens of thousands of dollars on everyone they sell.

Don't expect any of that to change much in the next two years.

I ended up buying a new model Y long range. I hit a deer with my Nissan and the combination of interest rates and other market conditions made the Tesla attractive enough to take the jump. Waiting for my November electric bill to see my first full month of charging at home.
