It was said in the Munro video with the head engineers that the dual powerpack motors on the Sbw rack each provide steering input, but each motor alone is capable of providing 50%-60% of the needed power for high steering load applications. So yeah, they're double for fail state redundancy.

I would greatly take simple and reliable over high tech and costly. But maybe I’m just not sold on it yet.
The fact that you don't realize that there's a motor controlling your power steering is a testament to their reliability. I can only think of two consumer vehicles on the market that still use hydraulic steering: Toyota Tacoma and Subaru WRX STi. There's a lot your electronic power steering (EPS) does that you might not even realize. Wheel imbalance feel reduction, constant drift mitigation, soft end stops, road noise feel reduction... etc. Since the physical connection between the hand wheel and steering rack is gone in the Cybertruck, many of those features will be more invisible to the end user, but will definitely still exist.

Boutique truck for fancy lads? Comparing the CT blade cost to your BMW is making the point clear. This truck is not for truck people.

I have a 2023 M3 Compatition, my 3rd one. This will be my first Tesla and first truck. It's simply to cruise in and look cool

Before anyone has a snarky comment on the price of the wiper blade, I just paid $65 for a set of blades for my BMW.
I agree
I was just in USA Autozone store and one Rainx brand silicon blade was $40 for a Toyota Highlander, insane
Outside of raw blade refills, Tesla is amazingly fair for wiper blades
Nice job Tesla

btw, just saw Hyundai wants $56K for a replacement battery for a 2022 Ioniq 5
Just the battery, not the entire vehicle and does not include labor
Think we might be uncovering a big vulnerability with Ioniq 5s and battery impact from underneath
For a diff forum, sorry

That’s $80 for a pair of blades for Toyota Highlander
Please note for the Tesla brand wipers, my two Ts are 12 months months old, my wipers are still perfect
Tesla fair price and great quality wipers

I can’t think of many electronic actuators that take the constant beating that the wheels of a truck will but I am not a mechanical engineer. I think the actuators increase the complexity of a simple well refined system that was basically bullet proof. I don’t have an issue turning a wheel a couple extra times. I can see how turn less and computer/power assisted turning is nice, but if it adding $10k to the vehicle, I would greatly take simple and reliable over high tech and costly. But maybe I’m just not sold on it yet.
If you prefer a mechanical steering system, you are in luck! Because every car on the market, except for the Cybertruck, has a direct mechanical connection to the steering wheel. So you can buy any vehicle as long as it's not the Cybertruck. It will take at least two decades before you start having trouble finding a vehicle that has what you want.

Isn't the free market wonderful?

I'm more worried about the housing market bubble. People can afford 20-30K loss but not 200-300K :)

Before moving to Tesla's, I had a 2019 M5 Competition and 2020 BMW X7 M50i, both gulping down $1000/month on gas but annoying part was the time spent at dealership for recalls, repairs and oil changes. I bought the X7 at $110K and 3 yrs later, traded it in at 52K (44k miles).

Now, If I want to buy the same X7 again, its sitting at a little higher price tag of 113K unlike Model X @ 79K and Model S @ 75K

I moved to Tesla's with savings around $800+ /month on gas alone and not wasting time running around dealerships for service. Battery/Motor replacements are covered by 8 Yr/150K miles. Gas trucks/cars have little value left by then!

Deprecition is relative and Cybertruck will sell no matter what to every demographics! Who knows new cheeper solid state battery packs will make its way by 2025 that can be replaced by service center for reasonable price.

This is encouraging! I might try to order me a windshield and wiper right now!

Wonder how much it will cost if we just ordered our whole Cybertruck "One Piece at a Time"!

Tesla Cybertruck Windshield wiper blade replacement price $75. Windshield glass price $1900. + other parts prices! (RETAIL PRICES)đź’° 1702568877809

Probably $300k (except many parts won't be sold direct to customers) ... :ROFLMAO:

Perfect! It may take that long to get a CT for a reasonable price. So for now I will take the wise advice of buying appreciating assets and build my third house and pay $100 for my trucks power steering pump should it go out after 250,000 miles.

Shouldn”t the wiper blade labor cost half as much as on other cars? ?
Lol im assuming most of us can flip a tab up and swap a wiper blade (or I would hope)
I’m talking about winshield replacement. I expect it to be in the $3k range with labor

I have personally been doing all maintenance on my families 4 vehicles for 20 years. They rarely rarely go into the shop. I personally replaced the heads on my truck and personally replaced the clutch and entire breaking system recently. I do more auto maintenance than 99.9% of folks out there. My truck does not have a power steering motor. It has a $100 power steering pump driven by a belt rotated by the trucks engine.
