Ok so I’ve owned trucks but have never used them for towing. Mostly just throwing shit in the back and heading to the great outdoors. I apologize if this has been discussed in another thread but I didn’t see one.

My question is this. How will charging work for the CT when towing something on a road trip? I live in the SLC area and the superchargers here are mostly in pretty tight spaces.

Will peeps have to find a place to detach their trailers then drive to the charger?

In anyone concerned about this?

thoughts?

Thanks!

100% the biggest issue with the lower range of CT.

Having to drop a trailer in a tight parking lot, or a few blocks away in a sketchy area so you can go charge then come back and get the trailer is rough.

340 miles is PLENTY to go get groceries, but depending what you are towing and where you may be looking at 130 miles of real range.

Towing is the primary reason that TRUCK owners are upset about the range, that estimated range is going to get cut by 50-70% depending what you are towing and where.

There are pull-thru superchargers, like this:

Tesla Cybertruck Chargers and trailers… fajorncucaauhah-1-jpe

There's a Wiki keeping a list here:

Hopefully, Tesla will eventually include a "trailer-friendly" option in the nav data.

I towed a 4,000lb sailboat from Orlando to Nashville with a MX a few years ago. I had to unhitch the boat at each charging spot. It did add to the trip, however I also learned how to hitch/unhitch the trailer very efficiently! There was always plenty of room right next to the chargers I could unhitch and keep an eye on my trailer. Also, there are some older supercharging stations that have at least one spot you can pull in headfirst. At those, I didn't need to unhitch and back in. I'm glad to hear that "pull-through" spots are coming!
