Has anyone seen a Cybertruck with a front license plate? The front camera is offset slightly to make room for a front plate attached to the bumper. But since it's an ultra-wide-angle lens and positioned slightly behind, I would think that a license plate would obstruct along the far edge.

Also, does anyone know how the front plate will be mounted? On other Teslas, it's mounted on a custom OEM bracket which is attached to the car with VHB tape.

Maybe that rectangular "cut" in the middle is actually a panel that can be removed so a license plate mount will be inset slightly so the camera is forward of it...?

Unfortunately, I'm in a state that requires a front plate so these things matter to me.

It would be a major over-sight to not think of such a thing, particularly since the camera is obviously offset specifically to avoid a potential front plate.

It doesn't take much of a leap of faith to trust that there will be no interference.

Im sure Tesla figured it out, as my M3 came with license plate adapter to stick on bumper

While this may be true, the real oversight is not having a washer for the rear tail gate camera and only having one for the front bumper camera. Not to mention no camera for the bed like the Rivian R1T.

I used the front bumper cam on my wife’s new R1S over last weekend and it was incredible for parking! And she ordered hers months after me, so needless to say can not wait for my CT.

No big deal. If it's that important to your driving enjoyment or abilities, there are always aftermarket situations. I've learned that Tesla provides all that is necessary for rational and safe operation. Yes, I carry a small micro fiber towel in my door pocket and, during nasty weather I give the rear camera lens a quick swipe.

Would it be better if it came with a washer? Yes, sure. Except for the minor inconvenience of having one more fluid reservoir to maintain. I suspect the front camera washer uses the same fluid out of the windshield washer reservoir.

But no, I'm not troubled that it has no rear washer, even though it would be a little better.

A vehicle at this price point should not have that as a minor inconvenience though, hence the “oversight”. Even road cars that usually would never leave pavement have rear camera washers which are at similar price points as the other models in Tesla’s lineup.

Driving the model Y in the rain pretty much makes the cameras useless unless I’m going out and wiping them off constantly.

And Tesla thinks they can get away with removing the side view mirrors for “efficiency” without including washers for those cameras either? Let’s face it, it’s more of a cost cutting part on their end. Similar to removing USS on the 2024 models.

If they were going to make a vehicle that can be off-road capable, they would have at the very least added those in considering the placement of the rest of the cameras (fender flares and tail gate) would probably see the most debris obstructing view other than the front bumper camera.

I never understood the bed camera on the r1t. Is it to watch for theives? To see if you forgot something in the bed? idk

For theives. Shut the vault. Vault open: sentry mode sees avenues of approach.

For remembering what you put in there: Just look? idk

And having a washer in the rear tailgate camera would be tough because it would require either a line coming from the reservoir or another reservoir plus the motor and parts. Where would those parts go? How much complexity would be added? How much more money would i have to spend on it? We are lucky to have a front camera at all let alone a washer for it.

My cheap a$$ Jeep Cherokee has a rear hatch window washer that's just another tube coming from the front window washer reservoir. The pump is at the bottle under the hood and hydraulic principles make this remote pump a perfectly workable solution (no pun intended) The tube twists at the hinge so being on a moveable panel is no problem. Washer tubes going to every camera location is doable at this price point*.

*oh gawd... I swore to myself that I'd never use the phrase "price point" ?

Makes sense. What was removing the hatch door like? Pretty straight forward?

Okay, I understand the want to see that, not sure it soon much of an inconvenience to not have it though. What have people done up until now?
