Wish they include my updates.
Doesn’t fit their narrative. They want to convince the world that evil Tesla’s products are crap. Can’t be objective with their reporting and push that narrative.

What is strange is how people are acting now vs. before. When I got my 3 and did meet ups as I went across the country I never had any negative comments on my thread. I answered questions. Tore apart car looking for rear heated seats. Again much different people commenting and much more negative folks in general compared to 3 launch. Maybe because of being left behind from Tesla's success.

Lesson for me. Is this time I am taking my pic on delivery from a distance with a Tesla grin, and riding into the sunset. EV's aren't new to me. I will get my joy from strangers on the road.

Edit add: I did see the correction thread on Reddit this morning showing the new pics...

Congrats on the truck. Personally I would have flipped my **** if they gave the truck to me with that rear bed side looking like that. Do they not do a PDI before calling you to come pick it up? How does it even leave the factory like that in the first place and if it popped out then is that gonna happen in the future if they manage to fix it. This will be my first Tesla and I constantly hear about how they are put together so poorly. I’m kind of concerned after seeing that to be honest and hope mine don’t end up with an issue like that. Waiting 5 years and they cant make a panel fit!

you should do a thread about how they fixed that issue and how they fixed it. Curious what it involved to fix.
You're hearing FUD. ALL products sometimes have an issue, but a Tesla is not a poor build. I see no issue with those pics. Its miniscule.

Drove it on a highway around 85mph today, the motor noise/whine is actually getting better (not sure if it's because it was a brand new motor, or it's me getting used to it). No vibrations at all.

One thing that surprised me is there is no auto-steer. I thought only FSD is not available, but apparently so is auto-steer and auto-lane change.
What about adaptive cruise control? Does it slow down by itself? I’m really not happy that FSD is not available and we don’t know when it will be. It was literally the #1 reason i wanted to get the CT. I thought since it’s the latest Tesla, it should be the more advanced…

Clearly not as the picture clearly shows there’s a 1/8” to 3/16” gap where there should be no gap. The distance some of you guys go to defend this blows me away. That’s not acceptable on a $100k vehicle no matter what the brand. The more of you who are willing to accept this as “Normal” means it carry’s on. I have looked over the f150’s and they are pretty spot on. I’m a f150 guy yet purchased a beast. The the CT needs to be put together at least as good as a f150. It’s costing 30k more so I’m not sure why that truck left the factory like that when they should be leaning perfect with how many they have to inspect a day before sending them out. It’s not a prototype so its bodywork shouldn’t look like a prototype. If they are leaving the factory like this in low numbers what will happen when they ramp up. That truck should have been pulled at the factory and fixed there. PDI should have also caught it and gave the buyer options. I get it you guys want the vehicles but what are you willing to accept as normal just because you want it. I would have walked away if that was my truck. What next the bed cover and windows leak water. Well it’s just a little water so it’s fine. The lights are not turning on but it’s ok I won’t drive in the dark!

The lack of autopilot/FSD at the present time makes sense to me. Remember that this is the first Tesla with 4WS and steer-by-wire. The auto-driving software will need to be revised to take advantage of these capabilities. I'm sure the issue is being worked and we will see this functionality in future OTA updates.

FSD doesn’t really work for anyone. You just get a beta which is currently a fun toy not a tool. I have had the Beta since the beginning. It’s a novelty.

Enhanced Autopilot should come quick. And is the main thing I want asap. Very annoying to commute in the truck and not have it.

How much more expensive was the insurance then say any ice car you had at our near the price?
At present this is really an irrelevant answer, whatever it might be

Ins co’s have no data yet to underwrite these Cts, except by analogy to other 1/2 ton trucks and maybe other BEV trucks

As data for Cats come in, including repair costs, their underwriting will start to be CT-specific and stabilize

until then, any ins cost info will be tentative and temporary. For better or worse, we won’t know.

Ok, it seems there is a lot of debate regarding the quarter panel gap photo I took yesterday. So I took a few more photos and measured the gap. In my own opinion, I can't really tell unless I put my face into it, I met another forum user today and he agrees that it doesn't look bad at all. I tried to move/push it in but there is zero movement. I was expecting this level of build quality when I submitted the order and honesty I probably won't even bother to get it fixed. However, the right turn signal really bugs me: 30% of the time it doesn't work, I had to click on a specific spot to turn it on. This would definitely be an issue I'll address with Tesla. With that being said, be your own judge at delivery and I surely hope CT's build quality improves over time.
BTW, just came back from the tint shop, tried the matte PPF film and it looks pretty good! Should I go for it?

There's 8,000 F-150 Lightnings available on cars.com so I suggest you switch, this is not the truck you are looking for.

I understand why you want something to look it's best. But what you're demanding are specs that are applied to the space shuttle, not consumer vehicles - even expensive ones. I've sat in a few F150 lightning trucks and have found so many build flaws it's ridiculous. First thing I notice when I sit in the cab of the truck is how cheap it feels. Then there's the clunky software that's not intuitive at all. The misaligned buttons on the center panel...I could go on and on. But the point is that EVERY car has imperfections, because when you have the choice between good enough and perfect, good enough wins because it costs exponentially more to go for perfect which is what makes spacecraft so expensive. So do you want a $6,000,000 truck that is perfect? Or a $120k truck that is going be be within the tolerance of the specs to which it was designed? For cosmetic anomalies, I'm more forgiving. If I can stand 5-10' away from my vehicle and not see the flaws (as you won't be able to with a 3/16" gap), then it's probably fine and won't affect mileage or handling. Now if it's mechanical flaws, there's cause to be a bit more picky.

i put 250$ deposit 12/08/2023 my order RN1127700XX
North california .. still no VIN :(
I did the same order/deposit day. I'm in San Diego. I however got cold feet and decided the truck was going to be far more expensive than I could comfortably afford. I made the stupid move of cancelling my order at the same time I ordered a Model Y instead (literally half the price it the door and I've been driving it since 12/26, 2 days after ordering). I wish I would've just kept my Cybertruck order until it was time to get the VIN and see a delivery date because now it's killing me wondering when it would've been delivered! Another part of the reason I cancelled beyond the cost was that it was seeming more and more like only employees and influencers were getting orders and that would continue until probably March. I see I'm wrong now, but at least I'm not going to be car poor. I wish Tesla would been more communicative about the delivery dates! The zero communication just gave me too much time to second guess my decision. I'll still constantly be thinking about the what if until I buy my 2027 Cybertruck! LoL
