Tesla reported Q4 earnings that missed estimates and issued a downbeat full-year production outlook that weighed on the stock, continuing a downtrend for the EV maker that began at the start of the year.

For the fourth quarter, Tesla reported top-line revenue of $25.17 billion vs. $25.87 billion (est.), however revenue rose approximately 6% from a year ago. From a profitability standpoint, Tesla reported adjusted EPS of $0.71 vs $0.73 (est.) and adjusted net income of $2.486 billion vs $2.61 billion expected by the Street.

The shorts are running rampant.

The earnings call was characterized as a "train wreck" by a couple of pro-TESLA fund managers. One analyst even called it "dead money" for 6-18 months barring some positive news from Elon/Tesla. He further said, If the stock can't build support in the low $180's look for it to go to $150.

I am long, even picked up some more shares today, but yikes!

I don't see any potential for significant good news until Q1 numbers come out, which is normally the worst Q in a year, so I'm just hoping we find a bottom soon. Since it went below -10% today even with the uptick rule in effect I expect to see more downward pressure tomorrow unfortunately.

The “good” news is, if the bad news continues it could accelerate Tesla’s interest in divulging some Model 2 info sooner than otherwise planned ??‍

If it's just more Elon speculation about when it might be available that won't help anything. His record of timeline prediction is pretty poor. This stock is going to need some solid performance numbers to really start moving up significantly. Maybe another Optimus demo but doing something more complex than folding a shirt, and doing it independently.

I forgot the uptick rule stays in effect the next day as well so it will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.
