As previously noted in a video from MyCyberLife, and in this recent video from DblCapCrimpin, the tonnoeau cover does a good job of keeping water out:

Semantics aside, it's obvious Tesla intended to keep things inside dry as possible when the tonneau cover is closed. Any water getting in past a roof or cover can be called a 'leak', or whatever else, but what one wants to call it doesn't really matter anyway. What matters is those posting in this thread were simply pointing out either how well or in what situations not so well, that the tonneau cover keeps water out.

I also think the Cybertruck looks good outside in the rain in this video.

Let me help you guys...

leak
verb
(of a container or covering) accidentally lose or admit contents, especially liquid or gas, through a hole or crack.

Based on the definition of "leak", the vault doesn't leak as it a not designed to be waterproof.

End of story.

Typical Tesla build quality.

The tonneau cover on my F-150 is totally watertight. Same rollup mechanism. Been through many severe rainstorms and never had a drop of water leak through.
Lol no it's not. Let me see that waterproof Ford branded tonneau you have tested like this and after some rain with video proof.

I'll wait.

For some reason your Cybertruck Owners Manual reference didn't show up in your post. I'm sure you can fix it though. We'll wait.

LOL

I'll reference the "not waterproof tonneau" statement in the manual right after I show the section about the "seats that aren't stain proof".

Maybe in bizarro world they create manuals or marketing materials highlighting what products can't do... :D

They do mention things in the Owners Manual like the 'Wade Mode' is limited to 30 minutes or less:

Tesla Cybertruck Cybertruck vault leak in rain: a bit disappointing 1706323359676

So I actually thought something about the tonneau cover's waterproof or 'IP ingress protection mode' specification, like IP54 or something, might possibly be in there somewhere too.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_code

So apparently they specify limits for water coming in from the bottom, just not from the top. ;)

After seeing the below video from Our Cyberlife, I think it performs quite well enough. If something needs to stay absolutely one hundred percent dry it can go in the cab.

Another one. Excellent psyche!?

Good considering pressure washers are able to force water into places most rain would not be able to go.

That was a great video. So it mostly looks like water gets through in two places: the rear interface with the tailgate, and somewhere in the front (maybe related to the curve of the slats as they starts to angle downward)?

How does standing on the Ford tonneau hold up ? .... but since Tesla never said it was waterproof, I don't care. I'm not sugar.

for all that standing on it people have talked about for four years

what with their being so many buying the CT to use as a cherry picker

meanwhile, the ad nauseam discussion of people camping in the vault…

both the limits and the extent of these concerns about leaks is obvious

Less obvious is the compulsion to be an apologist

The vault isn't a tonneau cover - no one ever said it would be water proof. Non issue for me.
