It was explained on the Leno interview with two execs that it was too slow.

Maybe it is slow and maybe expensive because it is for the 300 psi that the suspension needs.

Is Cybertruck's 300 psi tank a lot higher than ever needed for tires?

Tesla has a new model of portable air compressor for tires.

-----------------

$125 Air Compressor + Tire Repair Kit
Max Pressure: 80 psi
Flow Rate: 25 L/min at 0 psi

Too slow for what, a tire filling competition? It can't be slower than one of these, which a lot better than nothing when you have a tire than needs air. https://www.amazon.com/ROCGORLD-Inflator-Portable-Compressor-Inflation/dp/B0C6GS6JR3
Remember that 50 PSI is the recommended pressure. That is a fair amount in a larger volume tire to boot.

Go listen to it to get the full reasoning.

There are a lot of purchasable options for: Max. Flow Rate (High Pressure) and/or Max. Flow Rate (High Volume). Getting a 120v one would be way better performance than a "12v" one.

One good example with auto-shut-off: https://www.amazon.com/Inflator-Com...on-Deflation-dp-B09QG6HYPP/dp/B09QG6HYPP?th=1

In the future, who needs wheels?
That would be realllllllllly cool, but I don’t think I’m going to see that in my lifetime. I’m just excited that the cyber truck is here!????

I have a nice Viair 450 for my RV tires (110psi)...but it runs on 12v of course...so on the list to figure out if I can find either a 48v->12v or 110v to 12v converter to operate it!

And to be clear that is a serious compressor that does not appear to be for an aux/cig plug outlet but more directly to a 12v supply (ie. more wattage).

"This 100% duty cycle unit is capable of pressures up to 150 PSI and can be operated for up to 1 hour at a time before needing to be rested (at up to 100 PSI). "

CFM is what dictates the usage on this pump / tank combo.

To slow to quickly air up tires on the fly.
But if you are out somewhere with a flat slow n steady is better than waiting for help. 300 PSI even at very low volume of compression will fill a tire, and having the option would sure be nice.
You could add a "T" fitting in the high pressure line and put a quick connect air hose fitting on it for use in an emergency. I'd just keep a good portable air compressor in the truck instead.

Yea I think modders and the aftermarket will figure out a way to utilize it.
For regular offroaders a portable air compressor will be a must, but for a just-in-case I think a tap line etc will be the ticket.

12v air pump is worthless on a cybertruck? 12v vs 48v or 110v needed I think.
It wasn't a suggestion, it was to point out that people buy tire pumps with smaller motors and lower CFM capability that the one in CT. Yes, there are tons of better solutions. I have more than one 12v and 120v compressor better than that garbage one in the link. But, I don't want to carry them around all the time. Even a small one is a pain, wasting space, inconvenient. Plus, there's already a tank of compressed air onboard! If I can tap into it and just carry a compact hose with chuck, all the better. If that doesn't work out, yes there are other solutions. It's just funny how many people shoot down an idea without any real knowledge of how it works.

Understood - I use it with a 2500 diesel and a RV with 4kw batteries...no issues...bought before thinking about cyber truck...can still keep in RV but would be nice given it's pretty small to keep in the smugglers hole - but have to figure out haw to power it - it's got to be doable

120V-> 12V power supplies are numerous. I've got a couple of large 50A units running behind me as I talk.
