I didn't appreciate this vehicle until I actually drove it. Wow, I am impressed. It's going to replace the Model Y as my daily driver, no question. I can't believe I'm saying that.

Okay, there's a little getting used to not having a turn signal stalk, but once I did, the buttons are great. It also took awhile to adjust to the rear view camera displaying vehicles much further behind than they really are, but now I prefer looking slightly down to check the rear view rather than looking up at a mirror.

The quality of the ride is very good, better than any of the Tesla cars. It's quiet, too, even with the slight wine of the drive train when accelerating or decelerating. I see what some mean by the A-pillar obstructing visibility somewhat, but otherwise visibility is very good. I love how insects are carried in the air stream over the top of the truck instead of splatting on the windshield.

The ability to lower the Cybertruck's suspension for easy entry/exit is one of my favorite features. Even my 96 year old neighbor had no trouble getting into the front seat at the lowest level.

The audio quality is the best I've ever experienced in a car.

Demand for the Cybertruck should remain strong for years, so I don't see them reducing the price any time soon, if ever.

The difference is who buying lightning or rivian are true traditional truck guys ( those are true trucks). CT is not a traditional truck. You better call it full size SUV with truck capacity. So not much comparison between them, they are not even target the same customer base.
How I see the CT in my use case

Reality check fellow CT enthusiasts. The number of people that can afford, let alone want or need a CT is limited. God bless those of us, me included, that can afford this vehicle. It will be cherished and probably abused by us.

I have no idea what Teslas plans are for production and pricing in the near future but keeping the price where it is or bumping the price will rapidly deplete the pool of wealthy auto/truck enthusiast buyers. After that the prices must come down to rebate range to expand the buyer pool. Also even at 79k the CT will have a slim audience if it is a stripped down or underpowered version.

Nice! I’m glad you are loving it. Hope you enjoy many more years in your CT. Please continue to share your experiences with us.

We have 100 votes now and the forum is divided exactly 50-50 on prices going up vs down (38% each). Everything about CT is so polarizing, including any random votings like this! I guess that’s the unique thing about CT. It has so many polarizing things that people are pushed towards extreme opinions. Love it or hate it, you just can’t ignore it!

I thought so too my friend, but I recently spoke with couple of truck owners. Apparently, 80K is normal for new Truck owners, and don’t forget that RWD will be cheaper than that. So I don’t think CT will be exclusive for wealthy buyers in the long run. FS, definitely yes.

Given the fact that there are many people out there who are willing to pay higher than MSRP for CT, I'm seriously wondering whether CT prices will increase after FS deliveries. It'll be a bummer for many of us. The last thing I need after passing on FS invitation is to see 10K increase in the base MSRP for non-FS. What do you think?
I think Tesla will stick with their original pricing, so the AWD will go down to just under $80K. As Tesla gets all the CT production issues ironed out and gets production up over 2K trucks per week I wouldn’t be surprised to see the prices drop further.

I truly hope your prediction comes true. I can live a guilt free life for passing on FS order. :p

I really doubt that prices will go up, unless Tesla isn't able to ramp up the production.

The market for $80K+ vehicle is very limited. Look at the S/X and how many units they sell worldwide. If Tesla wants to sell 125K+ units per year, the prices will inevitably have to come down.

Here is my take: prices remain at the current levels for the next several years until the supply catches up with the demand. As soon as supply > demand, prices will come down. When that happens is the $100K question!

It will probably go down, there are many Model S Plaid and Model Y owners in past four years that are very upset on the price reductions for newer vehicles since their purchase. Prices always go down. The Model Y was way up in price when it was released, for several loose reasons (COVID), demand, availability, etc. now it’s half the price in the $40k’s. CT should follow the past S3XY trends.

Not everybody lives in California. Once that pool of wealthy EV buyers is depleted then the rest of the country will matter more.
Rivian showed that there’s a higher demand for SUVs than trucks.
Combine the high price of the CT, the actual energy usage, the bad publicity EVs are getting, lower gas prices, Tesla’s habit to lower prices over time, poor state of the economy for most Americans, etc and I don’t see how they could increase pricing unless their new strategy is to sell less vehicles (or have a halo truck as some bad mouthing journalist stated months ago).

I currently have a Rivian and Tesla and I'm thinking about selling the Rivian to get a gas vehicle while people figure out the transition. I can deal with charging times, I can’t stand waiting in line to charge (with all the bs that goes with it). They’ve opened up SCs to Ford, next month Rivian and it goes on. It won’t be fun.

I'm late to this convo but I'm gonna respond without reading any responses.

CT price will go back to the announced ones simply because they won't stop selling FS until supply catches demand or demand slows down.

Once FS is done, that means production capacity is high and the ramp is in full swing. This will lead to CT being easier to get.

If it's easier to get, there is less incentive to fork out 100k.

The early tax has FOMO in full swing and that can't last forever IMO.

And after owning an X and driving some of the rivian offerings. I think the CT is a model Y living in a futuristic body with a few sprinkles of new tech in it, going for a model X price.

It's wild to me that people are paying MX plaid price for non beast CT

...Another thread of fools telling a company to charge them more.

*sigh*

First of all, it’s disrespectful to call fellow forum members fools. More than 100 people have predicted (not asked) what they think about future CT prices in this thread/poll. Tesla or Elon doesn’t give a F** about 150 people predicting (not asking) what the future CT prices will be. If you ask anybody whether they want to pay more for CT, you will get 100% No. There is no need to do a Poll for that. It’ll be utter foolishness to think that the future of CT prices will be dependent on few handful of people predicting the price.

No. It's not disrespectful to call foolish behavior foolish.

You're allowed to be foolish.
