Anti-theft insurance discount removed from Cybertruck

After they threatened to leave California, they covered my home the last two years ...And they had gone a decade saying my house as uninsurable. They just sent non-renew letters to everyone in my town.

So take this with a grain of salt but my son had the same issue, the only answer that the agent could give is that other Teslas had a large discount due to "continuous camera and theft alerts but their data shows the Cybertruck is not taking advantage of this due to battery issues"

Only thing that makes sense is the Sentry mode is not getting used due to high vehicle drain on the average, so you may still be getting the ALARM discount, but maybe not the camera / sentry portion.

Is sentry mode still available on the Cybertruck? If so I don’t understand why its energy consumption would justify removing the discount. Any security system use is at the owners discretion.

I dumped State Farm several years ago. I had their insurance for decades & never filed a claim. The first time I needed them, they were miserable. I would not suggest you rely on them for anything. If you pay State Farm, that’s all you get. Payments.

Yea it can still be used, it just does not most of the time.

Usually people are at home in a garage plugged in and don't need it

Regardless, very few vehicles have a "Sentry"-type capability, and yet qualify for anti-theft discounts.

Teslas are downright impossible to steal.

They also have a page of specific anti-theft tools, such as:

• Install an anti-theft device. If you don't already have one, a simple audible car alarm can help make a difference.
• Consider a vehicle recovery system. If your car is stolen, it can be tracked using GPS, transmitter or similar technology.

All Teslas check both these boxes. They even lock automatically when you exit, and roll up the windows, too.

A few months ago, State Farm announced that "anything considered an active engine immobilizer will not be sufficient" to qualify for Anti-Theft, but this was specifically for the Kia/Hyundai debacle that allowed their vehicles to be stolen with a USB cable lol.

Perhaps the SF agent is mis-applying this announcement? It's ludicrous to suggest that Cybertruck lacks sufficient anti-theft features. I would ask them to point me to an anti-theft system I could install that would qualify, and then point out that all the 3rd-party features are already present.

My father was a regional manager of a large machinery insurance company (not a State Farm competitor). Many times he advised against using State Farm for anything as they had the poorest customer service and payment record of any major company in the industry. This was many years ago but AFAIK it still applies.

My agent recently emailed me back. She said; “I requested this be added back on. I am not sure they will have it corrected by the due date. If not then it will be credited on your future bill.”
