Spending $12k on a beta product in order to save money is hilariously backwards thinking
Well, if it's not obvious to you, I'll remind you that there are other reasons that make it worth purchasing. But, if you can't see them, I recommend that you not buy it.

I have been with USAA auto insurance what seems like forever.... does Tesla insurance "play well" when insuring non-EV non-Tesla autos?

Does anyone have any idea on what we should expect to pay for insurance annually on the Cybertruck!? Average person with a good driving record…
I honestly don't think it'll be that much more for just the panels in replacement costs.

I mean, if you scratch a panel in a normal car, they have to basically sand it down and repaint it plus they have to blend the panels adjacent to them. The ease of just buying a new panel and plopping it on with no paint or anything seems like it'll be a similar cost. More for materials, less for labor. (Probably)

Also, the regretting the decision thing is wildly trolltastic.

Aside from insurance, it would be expensive, and more importantly, takes much longer, to repair it.

I think there's a thread re. Tesla offering its own insurance. Reduced rates available if you give them access to the vehicle's "black box." One problem has been slowly navigating between trash cans and vehicles parked on both sides of the road in suburban neighborhoods gets interpreted by the system as swerving while DUI.
Source? Sounds highly suspect because FSD actually does that kind of maneuvering quite well.

I read a lot, and this was several months ago. I am not certain of the exact location, but I believe it was in a Tesla owners forum.

7k, please sir.

Your point is well taken.

I think her response was missing more content. If you believe in and want FSD (which I absolutely do) then you will save on Tesla insurance.?

Believe me when I tell you that stainless steel can be repaired. However, most "patch-n-paint" body shops will have no clue.
Ergo it's going to be expensive. I used to work with some of the leading stainless tank and equipment companies building food and beverage plants, so I'm somewhat familiar with the skillsets needed.

I think it's fair to say that for some period of time, the cost to repair will be elevated and availability of skilled stainless body techs will be limited.

Agreed?

Why are you here?
I'll be in the market for an EV/BEV truck in about 2 years. My gut tells me that there will be a model following the Cybertruck that will be a bit more conventional in terms of materials, design, and so on. What I don't want it a truck that will be in the shop for 9 months waiting for a panel repair since it will be my everyday driver.

The RAM announcements were certainly interesting as well.

"Elevated" compared to what? Current Teslas are notoriously expensive for cosmetic repair.

But yeah, if I need stainless repair, I'm taking the Cybertruck to my DeLorean shop lol
