You are assuming that this entire situation is a black or white thing. It isn't.
I am quite sure that there were hundreds of meetings internally while they tried to figure out what was going on and what the possible solutions were.
Then at one point they decided that it was serious enough to issue a sales hold. And that went out so fast that no one knew the details, just maybe a high level summary.

And it appears that even since the rivet solution was determined, they may be changing their mind and replacing pedals, after all, the Service Bulletin did tend to suggest it as a possibility.

The real answer is that they don't know the details. It is a fluid situation.

The only thing that is worse is telling you the wrong thing. And you would have been really pissed if they gave you a second delivery date and then cancelled it.

Believe it or not, they are trying to get these things out the door as soon as possible.

Just CHILL!
It’s a bit hard to chill when it’s 10 days from the hold order and i still don’t have my 108k back or a vehicle.

You are assuming the situation isn’t black and white. You may be right.
But who knows. The facts of the matter are that to date I haven’t received any official communication from any Tesla employee that their is even a problem with the truck. Just radio silence. Not a very customer friendly experience.

I believe this could and should have been handled better. I’ve been driving a Tesla for over 5 years and 170k miles I’m on my second model X. Electric vehicles are incredible and Tesla makes the best electric vehicles. They just have no idea how to treat customers. And we all tolerate it because the vehicles are so well built and revolutionary.

No matter how well built and revolutionary it doesn’t justify this lack of communication.

I do appreciate you taking the time to Express your opinion.

By the way this actually was my second delivery date. I was suppose to receive my CT the last week of March. I’m close to the Pittsburgh store and they had me taking delivery in Philladelphia 250 miles away. It took them 2 weeks to get it to the right delivery center.

Jesus Christ. I guess I’ll be carless for a month. I cannot believe how much damage Tesla is doing to themselves
Yea it was funny being there and thinking, should I even tell this person that I am carless and paid in full and in need of a vehicle etc... nope totally pointless. If it is the same next week I'm asking for a loaner.

Seems pretty black-and-white to me you paid for the car and you don’t have it. Who would not be furious?

So maybe I missed why the payment was done in advance of receiving the car was there an option to pay once you have the car like any regular vehicle purchase like a cashiers check etc. when you take delivery?

I picked up my CT today in Marina Del Rey and there were at least 20 CT waiting to be delivered. They told me that they were aiming on doing 10 deliveries today. There were only two CyberBeasts on the lot with all the others being 4WD. I was surprised at how dirty all the cars were with some covered in bird poop and most with filthy floor mats.

Has anyone else had their delivery delayed due to the delivery center saying that they need to have the steering actuator inspected and then replaced and then having to order the part, but the part is still being reviewed by engineering and not shipped out yet?

Trying to understand how long it usually takes Tesla to send/approve this part.

My original delivery was supposed to be the 13th, but I don’t understand why they didn’t order the part during the contamination hold. They just fixed the accelerator pedal today.

New part number is 1250695-99-C (in the service bulletin, revision “B” was listed). It has a rivet pre-installed

I still have not gotten my delivery date.

ordered: 1 Jan 2024
VIN: 4 April 2024
AWD, San Antonio Tx delivery

I flew into Texas from being stationed overseas on military orders to take delivery this week, but I’m getting concerned. Truck has been at the Service Center since last Thursday. I’m going in person tomorrow to try and find out real details.

Im nervous for you. We’re not getting any info with all the avenues available. No one has a delivery date of those that had it stopped 9 days ago. Please update us if you get any info

It IS how it is used in ALL states.

The Point of Sale is indeed the delivery location and that's how the vehicle is first taxed.
No.
  1. In California, Oregon, and Washington, 'dealer' just means a retail outlet selling a product. It doesn't mean a franchise.
  2. Texas uses the point of sale as where you file the papers. Not where it's delivered.
I don't know why you insist on continuing this argument.

Vague? They have $108,000 of my money and i have no truck. I Deserve specifics. I had a 10:30 am Saturday 13 delivery date. I wired the funds at 4pm on Friday...
...They canceled the delivery dates on Thursday and Friday.

What specifics do you deserve? This is nonsensical. They can't give you a truck when there's a liability.

Seems pretty black-and-white to me you paid for the car and you don’t have it. Who would not be furious?
...Someone who paid in advance and realizes that a company can't release a vehicle to them which they would be liabile for a known fault?

It's strange why you'd be upset at them for the choice you made to pay in advance for a vehicle that wasn't in your hands. This is the proverbial piano from the sky moment. It's funny because it happens sometimes and you gotta laugh or cry.

If you're mad, you're not okay. You have no right to be angry with anyone but yourself.

So, galleries were where they just show you things, but you have to go online and order.

Delivery Centers do deliveries. Some of them even have stock!

As you said, some state laws limit this - and Tesla does mix and match. Like, the gallery where I saw my first Model S in Beaverton, OR is now a delivery center as well. And lots os service centers are also delivery centers. But the old dealerships they bought in the Bay Area are all delivery centers, though they were originally also sevice centers, they moved that stuff to cheaper industrial space.

So yeah, it gets complex. The same laws that make Tesla jump through hoops makes the other companies jump through hoops - but the biggest impediment to them selling direct is their contractual obligations.

I live out here in the West where we don't have protectionist laws requiring dealerships. Heck, we even let you send alcohol in the mail and use THC.

Out here, there's no difference between a dealership and a Tesla store.

I don't really agree. [Edit: accidentally put disagree]

I get better communication on a box of pralines than I do from this ordering process. They scheduled a delivery. Took and cashed our checks and gave zero communication. That's a problem. If you don't see it you're just too far in your lane with FSD on.

They didn't take a check. Electronic transfers don't sit in someone's desk.

What are they supposed to communicate? What is this super-special communications they're supposed to know?

One week they were delivering. The next week they weren't. They sent out a message on the eleventh, but clearly not everyone read their emails or checked their schedules. And clearly they didn't have a single button programmed to cancel all order dates, seems like each delivery center had to do it themselves.

So what was this super communications? When they canceled, they didn't know when it would be ready, so they just pushed out the date. Heck, they didn't have an official communication on what the hold would be about - that takes time for the engineering guys to check, the assembly guys to be queried, legal guys to write up... All this is by hand while they're cancelling and rescheduling orders and don't know when and if their fixes will occur.

I just don't see what you're upset about. You chose to pay early. Sometimes things happen. Yelling at the servers doesn't make the kitchen actually go any faster.

If I cancelled my patients cancer case and didn’t tell them what’s going on and just said “wait” without any info, I’d be lit up online and by the quickest lawyer out there. It’s about communication when things don’t go as planned.

Did Tesla sale your previous vehicle? Or did you? Who made the mistake?

Yes, all of your complaining is totally pointless. Set your expectations accordingly. Don't expect it for another month, if you get it early, great.
