The PS is a bit much though, haha. In decades and hundres of thousands of miles of very very fast driving, I've never once hit anything.. And i know there is a first for everything, but all i am saying is odds are if i get into an accident it will be someone hitting me. And yes, i would like to make that day one that whoever hits me regrets.

I find it interesting that Elon tweeted a pick of the Cybertruck production candidate with a potential Highland Model 3.
i know there's a xwitter storm raging about this debate, but it seems pretty clear that's an older model S performance

unless the "redesign" of the highland is duplicating the rearend of an older model S performance, but with a shorter hood

*sad trombone*

Model 3 sales are lower than Model Y, so it beggs the question, why would it get the redesign first? The only logical reason is to create the lowest cost highest margin offering available, for people that really want something else, and this is just a temporary car.
The M3 isn't getting the redesign first. The MY already has a redesign in production. But that redesign isn't a face lift, it's orthopedic surgery. With the change of the manufacturing process and redesign to a structural battery pack, how x mounts to or is attached to y, this is a major redesign. But like removing a herniated disc and tying two vertebrae together, it's not a huge visual change.

As for your statement of "the ONLY logical reason..." I'll offer you some different logic. If the MY is the best selling car in the world, why on earth would you change anything? How much bad business sense would you have if you shut down production of the best selling car so you can refresh it and update it? I can hear the boardroom discussion "I know we are making serious bank on the Y, but let's stop making it for a while so we can change it. That won't hurt the bottom line, right?" If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And I don't know that I agree the M3 is the highest margin car they make. Do you think the Y is that much more expensive to make than the 3? And the Y sells for more. Looks like with the current production numbers the MY is the margin leader.

I don't think it is a "temporary car" either. There is a LARGE percentage of the market that can afford a $30k car, but not a $60k+ truck. Tesla is going to sell a metric buttload of cars in that market. There will be people who buy a M3 while they wait for the CT, I'm likely to be one of them. But if the CT doesn't come through for me, I'll probably buy a MS.

What is interesting is, I'm seeing a hole in the Tesla S3XY line up, and that is a sedan/SUV in the $60k range. What if I want a Tesla nicer or better performer than the 3/Y, but I'm not willing or able to hit the $90k+ pricing of the S/X? Of course, this does fit the S3XY naming. Big up top, big on the bottom, thin in the middle. Very Marilyn Monroe-esque. Whereas I see the remainder of the US auto industry more Marilyn Manson-esque...

Mid to high 70s, original planned tri-motor 500 mile range price was $69.9k. I am expecting this configuration would be $79k now to be eligible for tax credit. But I guess the range won't hit 500 miles.

If it is dual motor 300 mile config, then the price is much higher than original $50k price.
If the high-end version is $80K without 500 mile range, Tesla would have made a grave mistake.

I really doubt that they will be that much without the corresponding range.

If the range is sub-400 miles then the vehicle needs to be $60K or less. Elon did say that the Lightning is somewhat overpriced given the tech and range. Why would Tesla then price the CT to be more expensive than the Lightning?

I have a 2021 Model S Plaid, and the background car is exactly that: a Plaid Model S. You can easily tell from the hatchback design plus the large LED brake lamps that extend to each corner.

Folks who are creating the false narrative should be ashamed: they are just doing it for the clicks.

Especially since the Lightning has more dials and buttons.
To make some people happy and to not confuse new peeps, this is sarcasm

Hopefully that day will never come. No one can hit you on the road if you are not there ;) I used to believe I never made a driving mistake or made a bad decision while on the road. Later I realized I got lucky with most of my mistakes because they didn’t happen at the wrong time. Stay safe.

I don't understand. It has been 24 hours almost since I asked the Tesla marketing team to send me an invite , and NOTHING yet!

I'm losing my patients.

Disclosure , this is sarcasm.

A shepherd with patience does not lose his patients. Well, his sheep. He doesn't lose his sheep. LOL

Nitpicking aside, I have also not gotten notification to pick up my Cybertruck here... Freakin' Nebraska.

So if Tesla contacted you, said they had a vehicle for you to buy but didn't tell you how much it costs or what features are included, would you say "yes"?

I definitely would not. I would say I am interested, depending on the configuration and the final price, but who is going to agree to delivery of something that is unknown? It isn't free, and there are purchase terms to work out, including financing and how much of it will be a cash payment.

It doesn't make sense. So I say, B.S.

If we knew the first production configuration and pricing structure, then it would make more sense and might be possible.

I think Tesla would mention the price range, and those who said yes would probably buy at any price.
