Same message on December 31st after driving 50 miles in temps below 3°F. Truck sat outside in some snow for about 20 minutes at 0°F. About 10 minutes in to the drive home the message popped up. I had remembered reading that this was a software “issue” when the gearbox fluid got really cold. Only had 75 miles to get home so just didn’t worry about it. YOLO warranty!!! Stopped in 35°F temp to play with new V4 Supercharger. By the time we left the message was gone and never came back. Figured it would be best/safest to at least get it looked at. Added it to the service appointment already on the books for Jan 16th. The tech I chatted with over message thinks it is temp related. They confirmed today it will be a same day service though I suspect they will keep it overnight. Will report any findings.

I feel like with all the sensors and data we get in new rides with the Cybertruck possibly having more data than any ride on the road we are seeing info that is present in other vehicles but no way to know. I’m sure my 95’ Bronco had some stupid shit happening to it while I was abusing it but it had no way to tell me until it exploded a ring and pinion gear lol
Delivery in May. VIN 7xxx. 14,088 miles. I feel like even if they say it is software I’m going to feel better if they at least check it out.

Hey - I've had this clunking sound. Is it a very low speed (like in a parking lot) while turning, typically shortly after starting a trip?
Mine as well. Going down spirals on parking ramps and decelerating. @JTzinski keep us posted what they say.

Well - I had a service appt scheduled for the 16th and they are going to take a look at it. They said mobile service wasn't an option. I had my fingers crossed it was just software, but after a 5 or 10 min drive my front drive unit temp is significantly higher than rear so I fear I might actually have a leak or something. We'll see. Super bummed because was supposed to take the truck on a 3 hour drive (one way) this weekend and don't think that'll be happening now.

I'm a couple hours from closest SC and they said they can't give me a loaner because of how far the trip is from the SC ? guess it's time to rent a car.

The motor temperature rise may be due to it being used to heat the pack.
My beast uses the rear induction motors for heat. You have AWD I believe, so the front is induction. Thermal path is rear, front, pack.
It's still in the green, so I wouldn't worry. If you go into the service mode and pull up thermal -> coolant you can see exact temps.

Mongo, just so you know, you are the best. Thanks for always helping out!

I do have an AWD. So the front motor might just be getting so hot to heat up the pack? I was just worried that it got that hot that fast in 5 or 10 min driving ~45mph. Made me a little uneasy about taking it on a ~500 mile trip this weekend driving most at ~75mph. I will check coolant temps later today when I take it out again. I checked it earlier this morning but just when it was sitting idle.

Yeah, this is what Beast looks like after 8 minutes in Supercharger preconditioning mode without actually driving. 60C rear, 50C front to get fluid to 20C when its -3C outside.

Just did that same 8 min test...was up to 130C on front unit right when I opened it. Seems toasty...and double the rear unit. Lot higher delta between the two that what yours showed, but mine did get the coolant loop up to 33.

This is from when they told me I needed a new oil pump if that helps

That's incredibly helpful. And unfortunate. Ha! Not looking good for me as mine looks very similar to yours.

Woah, that's seems toasty!
Depending where the sensors are it might have an oil issue or air bubble. (Or could be sensor itself, need to let it cold soak to check baseline)

I saw an X thread back on New Year's Eve related to your truck's same condition. Wes, the lead engineer on the Cybertruck @ Tesla, responded with some info - and a number of other CT owners did as well. Here's a link to the thread FWIW:

Thanks for sharing that! Good info in there. I tweeted my scenario at Wes so maybe he'll help out ??

I received an update from the SC today… they have ordered and are replacing the front drive unit. It will be a couple days.

Are they replacing the front drive unit because of the clunking sound you were hearing, or because of the gearbox fluid error? Does replacing the front drive unit kill two birds?
