Before anyone tells me all about Turo: I ran a Turo account with 35 cars for 3 years, I know what I am getting myself into!

Here are my few questions for you wonderful people though:

-Is there a way to disable FSD when guests are driving? I know about Valet mode, but I've seen that it also decreases max speed and acceleration rate. Is there a way to ONLY turn of FSD and lock it so that a guest cannot turn it back on?

-I won't have a charging station installed in my house for a while. How many miles/hour does a standard outlet charge the Cybertruck? I am well aware that I'll have to utilize superchargers as well, but how much will I be able to get out of only charging with standard outlet charge?

-Have any of you guys put your Cybertruck on Turo? Any tips or important things to keep in mind?
Just my $0.02 as someone who rented a CT for a weekend on Turo a few months ago as a sort of extended test drive.

I specifically looked for one with FSD and verified with the host (he had a non-Foundation) that it was enabled before going through with it. FSD is a huge selling point for me and I wanted to try it out - I would not have booked one that did not have FSD enabled.

You should look into the fleet control software that Telsa offers to businesses. Fill out the form and ask the team. FSD can absolutely be disabled with their fleet software.

The only thing that may hold you back is eligibility for the program.

I rented on Turo before I bought mine. Could not pull the trigger before driving one for a few days. I skipped over several that did not have FSD advertised so cutting that may limit your number of rentals.

Something to be aware of. Personally, the blind spot at the A Pilar is something I have to be mindful of.
Anytime I let someone drive I make them aware of the blind spot.

I'll let any competent driver drive my Cybertruck. However, I would draw the line at people I felt needed to be made aware of the blind spot behind the A-pillar. I mean, if they cannot see that, they can't be a competent driver!

Tesla has reams of real world data of Tesla drivers with FSD enabled and without. Having FSD Supervised enabled reduces the rate of accidents per mile driven. Because two "heads" are better than one. And multiple cameras are better than two forward facing eyes. The proof is in the real world data of the accident rates with and without FSD enabled.

A good number of your renters will probably be familiar with other Tesla vehicles (considering the Model Y has been the best-selling car for two years in a row). It wouldn't hurt to emphasize to each renter that FSD requires constant supervision and have them sign a waiver acknowledging that (just like any owner has to do before they can access FSD for the first time).

I would prefer to rent to people who wanted to experience FSD too, with version 4 hardware, not just the Cybertruck driven manually.

What do you do with the 2 seconds of free time?
My point is that telling them it has a blind spot isn't going to fix stupid.

All cars have a blind spot behind the A-pillar. It's like telling a drunk person leaving the bar "don't crash" or "be careful". I wouldn't loan my car to a drunk person either, even if I warned them first.

This is no different.

All cars have a blind spot behind the A-pillar.

I swear my Chrysler Pacifica A pillars were worse to see around than any other vehicle I've had (including the CB). The angle of view blocked exactly where pedestrian corner crossings were. I'd crane my head in extreme angles to make sure there wasn't a walker, bike, or etc in that blind spot. There was even a little triangle window which did nothing to help. It just became second nature.

I'm assuming most modern mini-vans are similar. And there's no shortage of those on the road.

I've had my AWD CT & Model Y on Turo since May. Still learning but have a few pointers below -
Great to know. So essentially, if its plugged into a standard outlet for 15 hours, I'd get 45 miles? So If I average 45 miles a day on daily driving, I could get by for a good while without dipping into supercharging.
Don't count on 3 miles/hour from 15 amps, I get maybe 1 mph on 15 amps at 12v, and if it is cold AF it will be pretty damn near zero. Get that 220V extension cord, I've also seen setups that pull 15amps from two different plugs on different circuit breakers that combine to charge the car....

Absolutely. I was lucky enough to have a very high percentage of trips that were smooth sailing, but when the car came back with weed smell, it a lot of the time also came back with damage. I'd be vetting who I rent the truck out to VERY heavily.
Maybe you haven't had your Turo account for a minute, but Turo has been hosing hosts lately, if you "vet" you have to cancel the trip and take a dramitic hit to your "5 Star Host" status. If you cancel more than one trip/month they will delist your vehicle(s).

Frankly I enjoy dealing with the guests and HATE the platform at this point.

So far no damage to either of my cars.

FWIW - when I first listed the cars I was charging for FSD, but found as you or someone else suggested it required "valet mode" which has some drawback as you mentioned. I still charge for "Sport Mode", (you can put your Tesla in Speed Limit mode and limit the speed up to 85mph or lower at your discretion). I have torn apart too many Tesla tires with Sport mode and rapid acceleration myself to not require a "tire contribution" if a guests wants maximum acceleration.

But since about August I actually would prefer guests use FSD -IMHO it's now that good that fairly minimal supervision is req'd.

Negatives - a recent guest wanted to pickup my truck in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show. An Italian guy who worked for an automotive supplier reserved for 5 days, flew in and told me he planned to take the truck to Chicago. He then added 9 "alternate drivers".....I figured whatever let them try the truck.

So after one night in Detroit the car went to Chicago, then Indianapolis, then Findlay Ohio, Pittsburgh, PA, Toronto, Canada and back to Detroit. Between the mileage overages (I limit the truck to 100 miles / day) and daily rates I earned about 3 months car payments. BUT in cleaning out the truck I found their "testing logs" and it was clear they were testing the range, efficiency and charging for my CT, a Ford Mach E, an electric Hummer, a VWID4, and one more EV. This was clearly commercial use. They managed to strike me out of FSD but there was no real damage. I called Turo and they are "escalating" but my concern is that the commercial TOS violation may have invalidated any insurance leaving me potentially uninsured.

I'm thinking about occasionally renting my FS on Turo. I'm in Canada but still curious what kind of daily price you guys are asking ?

Whatever your market will bear, prices across the USA vary a lot, DL the Turo app and create a trip as a guest, filter by Cybertrucks and review what your market looks like before you price your truck. They were as high as $900/day for awhile, now things have settled a bit and about $250-$500 in most major markets. If you are far from a major airport/city it will be tough to find renters in that price range, but they are there

I rented my CTFS several times on Turo before the daily price sank beneath $200. I had several good experiences and then only one bad experience. You already know how Turo insurance works, but when a driver damaged the rear bumber, he had to pay a deductible and so did I. That makes no sense to me at all. For that reason (and the low daily rate) I pulled the truck off of Turo. To me, if a renter damages the truck, insurance and renter should make me whole completely. Also, and you might know this as well, the amount the renter paid (he showed me in his app) and the amount my app said he paid to rent the truck were completely different. That gave me the creeps about ethics at Turo so I felt I did the right thing pulling the truck off of Turo.

Yes absolutely it would be worth it, but our dryer is in the back of the house (rental currently, hopefully buying one soon) so it may be an inconvenience. I've looked into getting an extension cord and splitter for that outlet though!
There are probably not many 'extension cords' that are rated for that kind of voltage and current. Do be careful.
