I purposely put a bigger SSD in my Cyber Truck so I could capture more video before having to take it out to save any of it. Thought that made sense, Guess what, Tesla limits the amount of space the camera can record too even if you have more space? Why do you think that is? I setup a 1TB SSD USB drive and portioned it correctly per instruction from here. So it looks like 2 drives to the screen. 1 is like 200BG FATX and it records to the drive fine but it only creates like 20-30 files and then starts over writing them. So if you are driving and want to save anything you need to pretty much get it then or by the time you get home its gone. Time wise I have less than 40 minutes of video so it doesn't even record 1 trip to work and back. The other drive I have Audiobooks and music which work mostly. I still have not found a Video format that will play on the screen yet, but another issue.
Anyone else ever try this?

Were you getting one hour of dashcam with the stock 128GB USB stick?

sorry meant to pull my drive last night. Yes I get 1 hour 245 files 1 minute long which is 4 cameras at the same time so divide by 4 61.25 minutes. so 781 GB SSD between Sentry Videos and Road Cam Files it totals 65 GB of files with 716 GB Free. It appears Tesla Limits the Road Cams to the 13.5 GB Space. Any opinions why?

Do you mean partitioned? Can you post a link to the instructions you're referring to?

I just format a hard drive (1TB T7) on a computer to get rid of any bloatware, then format it again after plugging it into the truck. I'll have to pull it out again to check, but last I remember it was not partitioned or, in any other way, limiting space to the whole drive.

You can use a single drive for dashcam, music, and lightshows by partitioning it. If you only need sentry/ dashcam, there is no need to have multiple partitions.

Well that frustrating for me I have tried a 2 TB Drive also and still only get about 1 hour of video x4 cameras. I would love it if you could tell me exactly what you did to the 2 TB Drive the type and format to get that to work? I am very interested in seeing if I can duplicate it. I am sure I am not the only one that would love to get weeks of video but this method when we are on trip.
Question? is your videos broken into 1 minute clips? x 4 cameras?

Would be happy to the partioning was done on my computer and I setup a 750GB primary as the TeslaCam and Sentry area, the rest was Drive E on the computer and that was my Media drive which I put music/Audiobooks/Videos and etc. I really wanted to give as much space for the Cams as I knew they were going to large and I wanted to be able to have many hours of space. Both Partions are FatX as instructed and they work fine through the media player (although it never remember it place in a long file...Hate that). I will try to find the link of the article that explain how to set this up. I have also tried a 2 TB Drive with just formatting it Fatx and all one drive and get the same results. Nothing over 1 hour of Video....

The one thing I did not try is your "then format it again after plugging it into the truck", I did not try this I wonder if that makes a difference. I will experiment doing that tomorrow when I get a chance.

What brand of SSD do you have, there are a lot of fake SSDs online that have firmware to make them look bigger, but will overwrite themselves when they start to get full. i.e. A 1 TB Drive will only have 1 GB then just loop over itself. LTT has a good video on this, and I believe there is a way to test it.

AFAIK, the "recents" video is limited to a rolling 1-hour window. Sentry events accumulate until deleted, so a larger drive will permit more of them.

That’s normal. Hard drive will only have saved videos (ie Sentry or manually saved Dashcam) and 1hr of recent videos. Recent videos will be overwritten if not saved.

Yes they are only one minute I have to get home to my laptop and check how each one is partitioned You have to select the size of the partition for the Tesla folder so maybe you didn't partition enough space?
