I think Tesla understands many might put off ordering immediately, in today's prohibitive macro environment. Elon himself even mentioned once that higher interest rates will have an effect.

I think higher interest rates and current macro environment will cause some people to wait a little longer for a couple reasons. One, some will just want to save up a larger down payment or even pay cash because of high interest, and two some may try waiting to see if the interest rates will come back down at some point. Of course there could be other reasons too with many people recovering from other macro consequences as well.

Either way I think it would be silly for anyone to totally cancel a CT reservation just to get a measly $100 dollars back, so I don't think there will be that many reservations cancelled because it makes very little sense. People can just sit on them and then pull the trigger when the time is right.

But I also agree that many may be waiting for a non-FS. I would be one of them. Now that FSD has dropped to $8K the Foundation Series is even more excessively expensive, unless they drop it's price by $4K as well. I also think they should not limit the FS interior color to one choice of white, because that might also be causing some customers to wait for a non-FS option.

But I don't think we know what exact percentage of reservation holders are postponing or are just anxious to pull the trigger. With data on configuration invites sent out versus orders, I bet Tesla has a general idea though.

This is my point.. this is not Limited or Special. So what is the point of Foundation…?…price-gouge price-gouge price-gouge.

They may not know the date, but time is money and they know that magic number..Tesla is now an ‘Established OEM’. Welcome to the big-leagues

let’s see what special-bits they ‘strip’ from the FS-CT to validate the reduced price..

...Yeah, when orders drop below production. You think they know what that date is? And that stating the date won't make it come sooner?

Well, only a few thousand have been made. Next year another hundred thousand will be made that aren't Foundation Series. In the grand scheme of things that's limited and special.

Many may not remember all the angst over flippers and price anxiety that we all went thru on this forum for the years before the deliveries started and the price reveal let the air out of so many dreams of the original price promise.

The hype (deserved in many cases) and the celebrity of the new thing has been driving the must have feeling. Many of the early orders have been offered the FS and passed. The people that want the notoriety and can afford the extra $20 k on top of the $20 k mark up have the opportunity to beta test and work out all the details as well as have all the gawkers and fingerprints.

I will wait ( not so patiently ) and hope that the AWD Non FS starts soon. Since I am 400k down stream of the start of regular production I keep resetting my expectations. I had hoped for 2025, but that may be slipping into 2026. This will give me time to work out a parking solution. The CIty is currently cutting parking spaces and a vehicle this size will be tricky. SF living means tiny garages , mostly converted to living space.

7+ years is a long time to wait. Just hoping the stock ( I am in at about $100 a share so huge up side possibility) recovers and may by that time fully fund my purchase and even help retirement. I love seeing all the posts and the creative things that are happening as people get their trucks. Participating in the forum since mid 2020, so what a ride it has been. Seeing the proto type at Peterson and finally seeing the free range trucks as well as getting to sit in one at the dealership has really helped with the longing. I might rent one for a day or two help as well.
