Then:
  • The all stainless "exoskeleton" had me sold on a rust proof truck that was light weight and rigid. No worries about scratched paint or salt. Hell, it'd even be phased by moderate damage like stumps, shopping carts, parking lot "door ding gnomes", etc...
  • Glass that broke. Any other truck and you'd be donning that steel ball upside your head.
  • Range was never a huge influence on my reservation, although it sounded nice.
  • The looks of the CT. I'm a fan of function over form so it looked amazing to me. I kinda liked it.
  • The 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. This is my most favorite thing about the initial reveal and the truck as a whole. It's going to be bad ass.
Now:
  • The all stainless "exoskeleton" is a disappointment. It's not a "stressed skin" design but a glued on afterthought to make it all work. Plus, it's attached to a cast aluminum substructure. Galvanic corrosion anyone? I hope it's insulated well.
  • 4 wheel steering. I thought somehow I'd have an option to steer the rear wheels manually. Would be cool for many-a-party tricks plus real world stuff. Still love it though. Never knew they were going to include it but I'm glad that they did.
  • The looks of the CT. I Like it even more now. I think the CT looks good. It looks fast.
  • Range. Range is good enough for me. I'd like more of course, but It's not my biggest concern.
  • The 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. YES!!! OMG, Tesla! You exceeded my expectations! I'm not dissapointed!

There are many other things that I'm happy with that I didn't expect (sound system, steering system, quietness inside, FSD, etc).
There are many other things that I'm NOT happy with that I didn't expect (Tesla hate, EV hate in general, vampire drain (seems better now).

Overall I love my truck. It's got it's quirks but I'll commend it as it's absolutely an amazing handling machine. It's nimble in traffic and WICKED quick. I can do "super human" manuvers that I feel I wouldn't be able to do in any other vehicle.

Steer by wire was a great surprise, the range though......
Styling is exactly the same which is not common for a prototype to make it to market like that.

It was ground breaking in launch announcement.

(time goes by, world changes)

It is ground breaking in reality. Not the same as the announcement maybe, but the real life product is amazing and in many ways exceeds what I expected from 4+ years ago.

“I wanted a truck that looked like the future”- Elon Musk.

I loved it because it looked like the future. Was a bit overwhelming but just ordered.

I love my AWD CT because of the advancements to the industry:
  1. 800 Volt, 48 Volt with Ethernet speed bus
  2. Steer by wire and four wheel steering with triple redundancy- no mechanical back up
  3. The “schwing!” Wiper blade katana
  4. 5 ⭐ crash ratings- highest of any truck..ever
  5. Crazy advanced aluminum GIGA castings for efficiency, safety and bad-assiness.
  6. The Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless steel called HFS “Hard F’in Steel”
  7. The advanced, independent induction motors
  8. The vault with the best Tonneau cover ever designed- (the lack of proper water seal is my next fix)
  9. The interior simplicity echoed the exterior
  10. Air ride/ suspension
  11. The huge interactive screen
  12. The huge windshield
  13. The quiet ride
  14. FSD 13.2.8- I may complain but it is revolutionary
  15. Auto park- this is actually fun
  16. THE ABSOLUTE BEST STEREO EVER PUT IN A VEHICLE!!!
  17. Matches my kitchen appliance set

Yes, because the Tri Motor was $69,900.

Won’t forget that $50,000 initial price hike!

It’s ok, forgiven as it’s biting Tesla in the @$$ now.

Used Foundations prices are??!

Just a bit more!!

I watched Munro Live on the UTUBE. They tore down one of these trucks completely. Most panels are welded. Just the one strip is not. Had to make them flexible. I really suggest you all check out the series. It will 100% restore your faith in how the truck is manufactured. Have a good one.
Oh, and to answer the question. I am more excited every time I get to go somewhere than I can explain. The truck is amazing.

I'm not a 'truck guy' because they all look the same IMO - this is different from anything else. Seeing (the prototype) it in person a couple years ago was the icing on the cake, there was no way I wasn't buying it the moment it was available after seeing it up close.

I put down $100 back in 2019 because I thought it looked cool (maybe not beautiful but definitely cool) and because I was in the market for a pickup.

Fast forward to launch / the sensationalized “this thing sucks!!” media days and I almost didn’t buy it.

Then I actually test drove one. It was so far and above better than anything else I was considering that I couldn’t imagine getting anything else.

I couldn’t believe how comfortable, pleasant and fun to drive it was. It suits our families needs perfectly. One pleasant surprise was the air suspension making it really easy for both my kids and parents to get in and out while being able to raise up high for off-roading.

The only downside is that while it was built to protect us from the zombie apocalypse, it actually created the zombie apocalypse.

Ride height, FSD and looks. Bought at the wrong time under the wrong assumption of demand and wait time to get. I don’t think anyone will fall for that again. Feel like I literally set 30k on fire through manipulation. The easiest fix psychologically is to pretend 30k doesn’t matter. 30k isn’t a lot of money to the IRS or my ex wife so why should I care either.

I had modest functional needs when I reserved in 2019. I live on the coast so a stainless exterior was awesome. We all live in a Karen/Ken world now where people ding you car and walk away. The 3mm skin was huge for me when I reserved. I am always carrying cargo so cargo space was the reason I reserved a pickup. And finally, I had set 400 miles as my range minimum so the 500 mile range exceeded that requirement.

the truck I received met all of my earlier requirements except range and far exceeded them in ways others have expressed. The range has turned out to be a nothing burger issue so far but I may get the range extender because I have plenty of cargo space. My only 2 issues are the windshield wiper and the rearview mirror. Otherwise it is easily the best vehicle I have ever owned.

After driving and running a fleet of diesels for years I simply wanted an electric truck to reduce my carbon footprint and couldn't believe in my lifetime one was actually going to be mass produced and sold. In the US. That was enough for me to throw a deposit and support the cause.

And after nearly a year my truck has far exceeded my expectations and surprisingly, also my wife's. I get in one of my fleet trucks for a day and feel nauseous. There is no way I'm going back to anything else but a Tesla/Cybertruck.
