Been leaving my actual truck at home and using the X if I can get away with it. Carrying woodworking tools, home depot/Lowes supply runs. Or Ikea flat pack stuff fits well inside the X. Having own the X and Model3, I just wanted a truck that has Tesla tech and Tesla's approach to EV. And basically, that's what a CT is to me.
Where the CT excells in truck stuff for me personally.. is the tonneu cover. So nice to be able to lock up your tools and hide everything securely back there. Even taller tool stack fits nicely underneath the tonneu. It's especially nice if you roll home late at 2AM that I had to do many times when we built out our office. And then had to head back at 6AM. 80 miles drive each way. Day after day. That was tiring in my old truck. But FSD saved me during that period. The thought of not needing to unload the truck first before I can go in and get some rest. Godsend. Or the ability to stop for food when on a fishing trip with friends, without worrying about all the expensive gear in the truck bed like we had to on my old truck. That's priceless.
The rear wheel drive makes driving it so much easier. The steering wheel is super lightweight and feels so intuitive now. No more hand over hand. I still need to hitch up my boat to see how it is when reversing with the CT. Previously was using my X to launch the boat.
Lastly, having access to the AC outlet. Pretty useful. There was many occasions where I needed it and kicking myself because I was too lasy to bring the Ecoflow. Now, it's one less thing to worry about since I have power wherever my adventures take me each day.
Buying it Tuesday… For me as a dedicated Tesla shareholder it is a tech demo tour de force. I plan on learning it inside and out and teaching the curious who come by. I sponsor You Tube shows that talk tesla and can’t wait to get used to 4 wheel steering and the variable ratio steering which I had hoped would be in the 22 Model X that I currently love driving.
Also eager to see how FSD comes along in this vehicle. The 4 wheel steer adds new angles to it… and the physical size of the truck should also be interesting with it. I will certainly miss FSD at first As I am now thoroughly spoiled by it.
Gonna have a great time showing the truck to folks that are interested. It’s good to be retired. Maybe I’ll take a pinball machine out to a pinball show and play with my pals. Gonna be fun!
Honestly, I think it's quasi impossible to go from Tesla to anything else, I tried and it didn't work, I love what BMW is doing in the EV space, the fit, finish, all, but man they get boring fast, the Tesla Eco system is insane, it's like Apple all over again. Then the CT is another crazy cool piece of tech between the 48V and the steer by wire and the design, yes the design, I'm in love with the design, this brutalist insane cool look! There are ICE, then EV, then Tesla and then the CT. the CT is the GOAT of anything out there across all platforms, drives... anything.
I bought it as a statement: “After 45 years of working in high tech I am finally retired, and I want to show that”. Because I can. Because of the high tech. Because of FSD. Because of the constant updates.
Been a Tesla fan from the start with the Lotus Roadster and almost bought a very early model S, but at that time family/kids meant other priorities for the money.
The attachment (found at another site) is a bit over the top, but yes, not completely untrue.
Picking up my second Cyberbeast this week to replace my last Rivian R1T. I've already traded in another R1T and a R1S for Teslas. Cybertruck is simply the best truck that I've ever owned, domestic or import. My current FS Cyberbeast is my go to daily driver. Commanding view, easy to maneuver, comfy ride, FSD, sublime sound system, boat t load of storage room, good range, fast charging, future proofed cyberlooks...Did I miss anything
Final pic with my last Rivian in it. Next post will be all Teslas
