When I saw the first picture, I told my wife I would get one. Put my name in and took possession here in Manitoba last December. I have an eclectic collection of vehicles, and this one is right up there. It drives my too the city, into the city, and back home again on FSD. While I eat cheezies and drink coke. Luv it.

Definitely for the tech, steering, and driving. A bit selling point was the battery backup we would have as an existing powerwalls/solar owner but very disappointed we are STILL waiting on that software and date changed again. Sm disappointed in the quality a bit, recalls we are seeing with glued on parts, interior creaks, etc.

Overall love it though. Have a service appointment me on creaks again, the plastic on extior by glass that is popping off, the right window not flush and letting air in, and not the cantrails yet I hope as not in the mood to the rewaro those parts yet.

Otherwise going to use the warranty as much as needed and keep as long as it runs. Assuming we do get the power share backup still.

I was not an early reservation holder, probably a year after it was announced. My first Tesla - I always liked the tech that Tesla sells, just didn't think the prices of X and S were practical for me. Then the CT was introduced and just for sheer goofiness (and inner child) - I had to get it, price didn't matter.

If not a CT, I would have gotten a used H1 or G-wagon, or Land Cruiser. But the tech and something different in this world of mundane cars had me hooked and I still love it after a year of having it.

I still feel pretty much the same way. I reserved mine in 2019 during the event. I wanted a vehicle that could replace my luxury sedan, SUV and sports car, and it did. The only thing I never anticipated was all the hate and politics that would eventually come with it. Still no regrets about buying it, but I regret people's behavior.

I would buy another one if it they had an SUV version. It’s delivered on all my expectations. Does have some oddities (like the split between seat and seatback in rear (printed a solve for that), doors should soft close, rear view mirror should have been electronic (since it’s on the windshield), plastic sail covers (suck), bed too easily scratched…..
But these same types of issues exist in the ICE examples too! What I love most about this vehicle, is how people, especially young minds, look at it; with awe and inspiration! I took a pals kids on a ride and here’s what I received the next day as an example (he’s autistic)! #Tesla! Also, GM, Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, etc.!

Then:
  • The all stainless "exoskeleton" had me sold on a rust proof truck that was light weight and rigid. No worries about scratched paint or salt. Hell, it'd even be phased by moderate damage like stumps, shopping carts, parking lot "door ding gnomes", etc...
  • Glass that broke. Any other truck and you'd be donning that steel ball upside your head.
  • Range was never a huge influence on my reservation, although it sounded nice.
  • The looks of the CT. I'm a fan of function over form so it looked amazing to me. I kinda liked it.
  • The 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. This is my most favorite thing about the initial reveal and the truck as a whole. It's going to be bad ass.
Now:
  • The all stainless "exoskeleton" is a disappointment. It's not a "stressed skin" design but a glued on afterthought to make it all work. Plus, it's attached to a cast aluminum substructure. Galvanic corrosion anyone? I hope it's insulated well.
  • 4 wheel steering. I thought somehow I'd have an option to steer the rear wheels manually. Would be cool for many-a-party tricks plus real world stuff. Still love it though. Never knew they were going to include it but I'm glad that they did.
  • The looks of the CT. I Like it even more now. I think the CT looks good. It looks fast.
  • Range. Range is good enough for me. I'd like more of course, but It's not my biggest concern.
  • The 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. YES!!! OMG, Tesla! You exceeded my expectations! I'm not dissapointed!

There are many other things that I'm happy with that I didn't expect (sound system, steering system, quietness inside, FSD, etc).
There are many other things that I'm NOT happy with that I didn't expect (Tesla hate, EV hate in general, vampire drain (seems better now).

Overall I love my truck. It's got it's quirks but I'll commend it as it's absolutely an amazing handling machine. It's nimble in traffic and WICKED quick. I can do "super human" manuvers that I feel I wouldn't be able to do in any other vehicle.
Great question BTW... really got me thinking. Here is why I love it even more now...
  • Still amazing shape and futuristic design (Musk quote will always resonates... future should look like future)
  • The build outside... look I'm not expert on number of weldings or metal glue vs not... but 5Star safety rating put all these discussions/debates to rest. The truck is well built
  • The build inside... looks sexy (though the rattle noise in some areas - that were eventually fixed, was bummer... but also it is common Electric car problem)
  • Metal tonneau cover
  • SBW Steering, rear wheel steering
  • Bi-directional charging
  • Wheels, and 4 wheel ....

I knew I would get taunted and flipped off when rode around in it. I could picture all the assholes way back 5 years ago. I never anticipated them to become violent and attempt to destroy the vehicle, because its such a mind fuck, but what a special surprise!

Thanks for the review. A nice recap! I think as a non-CT owner but an observer, I'd agree with your summary. I had two reservations, but canceled both... much more money than I wanted to spend and too large for what I wanted.

Yep! After surviving a hailstorm and a flash flood whereby I had to traverse through over 35 inches of raging water with my FS Cyberbeast! I am completely sold on it roughness and survivability. I'm so much more in love with my CT than ever before. This year, I sold my last 1/3 Rivians and got myself a non-FS Cyberbeast. Super happy with my decision. I'm now working on getting my third CT, this time will be a Dual-Motor Cybertruck 🤓

I reserved my CT Dual Motor with FSD a week after the model was revealed in 2019. My son convinced me to reserve it, he likes the look of it without knowing the technology behind it. I like it more now since I see more of them around, and the fact that I no longer have interest in buying ICE vehicle. I may eventually order it before June this summer.
