I was installing a Radar Detector trying to hardwire it in the cabin rear view mirror housing. I know I accidentally shorted the 12 volt (Red and Brown wires, White connector). After install the Radar Detector was ON, so I thought all is OK. After that I found that the radar is only on when the truck is in park, as soon as I hit the break to shift to drive, the radar detector turns off. anyway, later I I observed that Attention Monitoring while in FSD started to be extra sensitive, turning off a lot more than usual. Also, I observe that the area around the wire connector and cabin camera is getting very hot, and I hear a faint clicking sound that on all the time.

A lot other folks who have tapped the same connector for radar detectors report no issues and it works normal, me, I don't see my radar turning ON while truck is in drive and the issues I see, did I miss something up? the truck doesn't report any issues itself. I have tried DAS reset, CAN/ECU Software reinstall.

What is that wire actually for? what could I have potentially burned when the wires shorted?

Looks like other people have finally been dealing with the issue I had a few weeks ago. Have you updated recently? I had the same issue happen after the previous 2025.2.9 update. You didn’t short anything. Just leave it unplug and try plugging it back in in a week or wait for an update. After a week of being unplugged and then trying it again , it started working. Could be an update bug or just a temporary thing. But mines been working fine since.

I recently purchased my Cybertruck, I cannot tell if software update is to blame.. I was already on version 2025.8.4 when I hardwired my radar detector.

Is the cabin camera and the white connector hot to touch and faint clicking sound normal?

I’ve heard from others who installed digital mirror that bad wire management can cause the attention monitoring camera to overheat (don’t block its tiny fan with wires). I’m not familiar with how radar detector wiring is, but the less stuff you have crammed in the shroud the better.

Than you for your reply. What fan? I did not see any fan in there. I have just installed a mirror tap into the white connector with the 15v connector.

Not sure if it’s normal but i knew it wasnt shorted because the 15v you tapped into feeds the IR illuminators, and those not turning on is what’s causing the fsd monitoring problems at night. Im assuming they power the fan in there too. But whenever id use mobile view to look into the truck cabin camera at night While the truck was “off” the IR illuminators did work. So whatever happened could have been a small diagnostic period. Like i said just leave it unplugged for a week then try plugging in again. I had opened up a service ticket and everything but luckily it fixed itself so i closed it.

I appreciate your input. At times like these, I need my CyberBrother's affirmation that everything will be OK :). For now, I removed the tap wire and radar. I will try again in a week or more and continue to keep an eye on attention monitoring issues and high temperature.

Yeah man one night like 4-5 days after I removed the plug, I saw the little green attention monitoring dot at night so I plugged it back in and all was normal lol

The green dot still comes on, but I notice that it's sensitive and is turning off more than usual. I will pay more attention to the difference in day time and night time of FSD.

during the day it’ll work fine. At night is when it won’t come on due to the 15v ir illumators not being powered on (where your tapping your 15v to the radar from)
