The hard part about CT pricing is NOT placing it BELOW the Y and X too much. Dropping into the 50-60s with tax credits could do that. However, I do expect the 3 and Y to be even cheaper soon. Perhaps in time, it’s all affordable.

The good news is that in addition to the phenomenal 362 miles of battery range (with bed cover) Tesla didn’t cut the technology that makes the CT so unique and special.

The RWD trim keeps the 123 kWh battery pack, SBW, RWS, mechanical locking rear differential, super tough glass and the best feature IMO. The 1.8mm and 1.4mm thick proprietary stainless steel exterior. No other competitor in the US offers a super durable, rust resistant and dent resist SS exterior on their pickup trucks and probably never will.

Members have posted pics of deer strikes, hail storms and numerous fender benders and the CT always comes out the winner.

We knew that Tesla was going to de-content the RWD model to achieve a lower price point and now we have the facts.

Here is a summary of changes that I noticed on the “Endurance Hauler“ RWD trim:

-removed smugglers bay in bed
-removed rolling tonneau cover
-18” wheels (20” Cyber wheels a $3500 option, 29 mile range drop)
-front and rear lighting modifications
-removed rear seat display
-removed ventilated seats
-removed rear heated seats
-textile seat coverings
-removed 8 speakers and active noise cancellation
-removed HEPA air filtration
-removed power outlets in bed and cabin
-reduced towing capacity
-reduced payload
-basic console
-less premium bed lighting
-removed L hooks from bed
-removed air suspension feature (conventional shocks now)

I don't see HP and torque numbers listed on the Cybertruck website.

Yeah, you're on point! Let's face it, you're driving CYBERTRUCK......A CYBERTRUCK is THE POSTER Car for almost every kid that see it! Including BIG kids like me and maybe a few here on this Forum.
When l first saw the reveal, esp the $$$$$.....l said to myself they're giving this thing away! It now offers 362 miles of range compared to the ~250 in 2019. It's packing more than promised too.....l see it as well positioned in it's segment. I just saw a BYD on the West Gates Bridge 30 minutes ago.....think it's called the TASMAN. Should do well in Tasmania....the Apple Isle! Give me a CT.....nothing comes close!

You do make a very good point.

Alternatively, I have been looking at a used Silverado EV Work Truck from Hertz. It is less then $60k with over 10K miles. Still researching and comparing my options. I still would like to get the CT, but some of the numbers and reported issue making me wait/look at other options.

The Silverado is probably a GREAT TRUCK..... however, it ain't NO CYBERTRUCK. Do l sound biased.....

If I was younger I would be all over the rear wheel drive. I would likely be making my own permanent bed cap (or putting one on with a tent and the ability to standup like the cybertruckco one) anyway so who cares about the tonneau. That is just added weight and complexity. The RWD with Tesla’s outstanding traction control would get it done and last forever with no problems. It is the essence of what a truck should be. With proper tires, a set of chains, and the locker, the truck would get me wherever I needed to go. I love the textile interior. I love no problems with front cv joints or stress on the suspension from the front drive. I love no air suspension to destroy tires and be a headache in the long run. I love that there is a bunch of extra room down below to mount a compressor or an AGM battery. It would be easy to find the parts for the smuggler’s bay or the power outlets. Still, a power station is the play for overlanding anyway. It’s possible to get power from the adapter without a separate inverter so no worries. I’m sure the sound is still outstanding. It is all truck and less fluff. I dig it. At my age the AWD is the right choice. Younger me would want the RWD and be very pleased. I just wouldn’t want all the extra comfort stuff there is no real need to have. Lean and mean. I bought my 2018 M3 with the RWD for some of these reasons. AWD is fine, but it isn’t necessary, and introduces plenty of headaches with front end complexity. RWD is also such a delight to drive. Never regretted it. The car is still solid as a rock. I like the RWD truck a lot. 10k is 10k.

Edit: No tonneau cover also allows for the much desired pass through between the cabin and the bed. The spout behind the rear arm rest is essentially ready to removed. Instant pass through. Look on the bright side folks.

If they made that truck they would have to sell it without a tow hitch, because if someone hooked up a trailer they would not make it from one supercharger to the next.
I think this will be the lowest model/trim of the CT, hopefully they can drop the price with scale, but to get to scale they need to SELL more trucks.

For those on the fence, order this NOW! You are going to get and AWD model that’s software limited. Just wait and see. This is the same Model debacle they attempted.

There is precedent to software limiting battery capacity (early Model S) and maximum DU power output (early Model 3). I don't know of a case where an entire DU was effectively disabled. Plus, there is a significant weight difference between a RWD (6118lbs) and AWD (6634lbs) suggesting the front motor is not there .

What makes you believe the front DU is installed and disabled?

For those wondering about the bed outlets, looks like they have modified the new mobile charger. It has an adapter to allow you to still run electrical equipment through the mobile connector.

I didn't catch that. Looks like the mobile connector that comes with the DM and CB has that capability. I remember something saying we got a powershare mobile connector. But I didn't know what that meant at the time.

The use case doesn't matter since we have outlets in the bed. But we could buy the outlet connector at $80 and it would work the same for our trucks.
