Im surprised most of all that that they stripped out the outlets from the bed. Yes I know you can use the charge adapter, but it turns it into more of just a pickup/hauler vs a work truck - where people might want to have it on a job site and conveniently use it to run tools etc...

The product can be great and still be a failure. My Giulia was the best car I ever owned by a wide margin and they sold like none of them because of public perception. Everywhere I went, people tripped over themselves to tell me how unreliable it would be, despite it being the most reliable performance vehicle I've ever owned (of several). There was a limited window to get something as unique as the Cybertruck into the public opinion and Tesla (Elon) did about as bad a job as you can possibly do.

The panels flying off and early ones being bought back sealed the deal. Buy one if you love it (as I do), but I think they will struggle to sell even 20K units a year, regardless of price.

Going so far as to strip the HEPA filter out is an embarrassment and tells me they are making zero money on the RWD. I was waiting for this trim, but have zero interest in ever buying one without V2L.
Lucky they left us the windows…

Tesla Cybertruck Long Range RWD Cybertruck launched! 362 miles range w/ soft tonneau ($62,490 w/ tax credit) 1744380608078-9

500 pounds of less weight equals higher range.

I want to see the 18" wheel without the ugly dog dish wheel cover.

The aftermarket will be all over the open bed with bed caps and solid bed covers for the RWD model.

362 miles of range with a bed cover is impressive.

The R1 T will have more features, but cost more money. And no other truck on the market will have Tesla software and FSD. If those things don’t matter to you then you’re better off buying a lightning or any other electric truck.
You do make a very good point.

Alternatively, I have been looking at a used Silverado EV Work Truck from Hertz. It is less then $60k with over 10K miles. Still researching and comparing my options. I still would like to get the CT, but some of the numbers and reported issue making me wait/look at other options.

It really is, the key is for there to be enough CTs on the road to justify the aftermarket mass producing those options. So not everything out there gets hit with the "Cybertruck Premium" and a bed cap doesn't cost $9,000

Yea I agree, it is just nuts to me that the lowest price option, is also the highest range.
That’s all Tesla’s. Make sense, less motors and other hardware making it lighter and more efficient. Def wouldn’t make sense for Long Range to cost more, unless it was due to more batteries to get you there.

I can't speak for the other truck options. I had a 2015 F150 lightning and the planned obsolescence of the American car manufacturers turned me off from their brand, so I'll never by a Chevy, Ford, or GM while Tesla and Rivian exist.
Owned and drove an R1T for 2 years as my daily driver putting 36k miles on it. LOVED IT. But I wanted something bigger and Tesla offered me the option to buy an FSD Cyberbeast so I bought one keeping the R1T in case I wanted to go back.
The difference between the 2 is the software and FSD. Nothing else can compete with that IMO. So I sold the R1T and have been loving the beast since 6/1. I've had no issues other than some stupid recalls.
Oh, and the steer by wire/4 wheels steering. Game changers and makes parking my CT EASIER than parking my R1T in my garage.

All beasts suffer from a traction/suspension issue in the front motor. Out of Spec talks about this and I've had a thread open for discussion here on the topic. Its Beasts only and somewhat annoying. Tesla has to fix it but I wouldn't give up my beast because of it.

Ugh! Hard pass! This feature alone is worth $10K upgrade to AWD/Beast!!

Those on the fence - just bite the bullet and get this magnificent machine. It’s worth every penny! Of course you might save $7K - $10K if you wait, but is the “opportunity cost” of missing out on the experience worth it?

People in the “market” for the Cybertruck are not general car buyers. It’s a niche market. Those people will scrutinize the trim in detail. At this price point of 60k, it will not sell well like the model 3/Y. At 50k pre-credit maybe. Not not 60k.
This price will push more people towards AWD, and Tesla has a buffer to lower RWD prices in the future. If they had released RWD at $60K, they would see less sales for AWD and wouldn’t be able to lower RWD prices in the future. This is a genius move, but it’s also Marketing/Pricing strategy 101.

This spec makes no sense. The margin must be huge because for 10k more you get a hell of a lot more truck. This should be 50k, max.
