I had one reserved and didn't execute when my time came up. I was fortunate to take one for a test drive, and there were some issues at the time. I drove one again, and it has improved, but I still have some concerns about pulling the trigger on one. With the sales tanking, it does make me a bit concerned about the future of the truck.
I think Elon needs to keep Tesla at arm's length a bit more to not depress the sales. I was in Germany not long ago and he really alienated a lot of people there that loved Tesla previously. The only other option I am seriously considering would be the new quad motor Rivian R1T whenever it finally launches.
There is very slim chance Rivian will go bankrupt. Their sales are holding pretty stead, they've reduced their cost per truck and VW would likely pick them up anyway. Factor in that Amazon no longer has the exclusive deal on their vans and they will likely move a fair amout of them.
The interiors on the new Rivians are better than the previous gen on the upper level models and I personally thought those interiors were better than those on my S, which was clearly nice than the one in the CT. If I am spending 100k+ on a vehicle, I definitely would like a nice interior than what currently comes in the CT.
I also think they made a mistake with the CB vs AWD model just like the did with the S and Plaid. Almost nothing, other than an extra motor, to really differentiates the two models. With the S, they started a bit too late. Just slap a spoiler on a Model S long range and it looks like a Plaid, at least until they finally put different seats in a Plaid. They should have given the CB a nicer interior and more things to distinguish it from the AWD model.
