i was going about 45mph in chill mode. It was wet and raining. There were people behind me. I could have took control or braked to avoid the chicken, but I’m not risking a wreck for an animal. Could not feel the impact. I don’t recall even hearing a thud!OP...glad you shared this as I was wondering how FSD would act in corner case scenarios. Would a flying piece of trash initiate massive braking from 75mph? How does object size/shape factor into behavior? What if it was a neighbor's small dog? Definitely curious and would love to know what we can expect from FSD.
1 large deer - MAYBE-PARTIALI noticed my CT FSD braked for four pigeons walking in the road near a stop sign. As I approached the stop sign the car slowed as the pigeons waddled away, then accelerated towards the stop sign, stopping as NHTSA requires. I was delighted.
Exactly, FSD already calculates risk to avoid making situations worse. Physics doesn't care about feelings; if you are going to hit something, then the best thing you can do is try to lessen the damage.Asimov’s three laws say nothing.about chickens so Optimus is just acting per programming.
Imagine if swerved and that somehow caused an accident which then hurt you or another human road user.
It would have really fucked up then.
CT: “Chicken Lives Don’t Matter!”
Truck did not flinch or react at all.
was the animal just too small?
Did the incident happen too fast for the truck to react?
