My first Tesla FSD vehicle so not sure if this is common but are round abouts usually tough for FSD? Saw this and then Yesterday I had to take the second right in a two lane width round about and my CT stayed on the inside lane like it was going to do a complete circle then last minute took the second turn from the inside lane. Had a vehicle been in the outside lane also taking that second right that could have been a problem. But then again maybe it knew there was no car to the right and behind and it acted properly knowing that.

Either way I’d be cautious around round abouts with cars nearby.

With this being the first public build, expect some funky behavior and be extra cautions.

I really hope we don't see a flood of clickbait youtube videos like this one for interventions, when interventions are to be fully expected in this early access build. Tesla could easily decide to be extra safe in the future and not push updates wide if too many folks are making something out of nothing simply for clicks. Then we'll all be here again like we were last week, shaking our fists at the "inflencers" when they get the updates and we don't.

You can see where the visualization drops the truck out because it's behind the sign/wall.

That's a huge logic issue in the AI for a vehicle to "disappear" because it can't see it anymore.
Caveat: the driver facing UI may not match the internal path planning model. (Live versus memory/ projected path)

First, I am happy to have this finally! This was my first attempt after the download at 7:30AM this morning! I was just getting out of the neighborhood at our traffic circle. The truck appears on the screen, so I am not sure why it didn’t stop! I waited as long as I felt comfortable which was a last second me slamming on the brakes. The other truck paused it was so close, he was unsure if was coming or not.

Not trying to hate, but damn that was a little close for comfort! Honestly, this seems rushed out just so they can say its out, at their robotaxi event…..
Let me know what you think!

Being new to FSD, the last thing you want to try is a traffic circle. I would recommend areas that have light traffic and rather easy routes to "learn" FSD behavior. This is still beta. I've been using FSD since 2018 and am still super nervous about simple single-lane traffic circles. You have to assume FSD will make the wrong decision and be happy when it finally starts behaving correctly

Traffic circles have been "hit or miss" for FSD in my 2022 YP for years, so be highly vigilant when entering and navigating one. I have found that until recently, it tends to hug the right side of the roadway in the circle, too much for comfort. This has improved as of about two months ago just a little, but again, it still needs to improvement.

I agree with UP_Kirk. In addition, think of FSD as a 15/16 year old kid learning to drive on the road the first time and manage your take-overs accordingly.

Having said that, there are many situations where FSD is actually "better" or "more responsible" than 90% of experienced human drivers, but you absolutely need to give your brain time to learn what FSD is very good at doing, pretty good at doing, not great at doing, and terrible at doing IMO.

That is a good point. Human brain would think the truck was still coming but computer thought it was gone.

This is going to be just an early CT build quirk. FSD Builds on other Tesla vehicles certainly predict that a vehicle or pedestrian still exists even when occluded by an obstacle. I expect point updates for the CT in the near future to address this.

Left, Right, Forward yes, a circle no!

Duh we are not there yet!

Give it time!

No wait?!

Tesla only has until the 10th of October to get it fixed!!

I tried it yesterday and I had to brake a few times. I am not sure if it would have hit a car, barrier, and a jogger but I was NOT comfortable. I expect improvement.

I used it again this morning, it's still got this aggressive undertone to it. It doesn't slow down fast enough for stops IMO. The U-Turn today was a bit shitty, reminded me of older FSD, jerky wheel and movement. This is definitely all new data for CT FSD.

At this point they should call this "CT FSD" ha!

My model S also does that sometimes. Seems like it might be a flaw in fsd still.

Hopefully it drives itself the the junk yard lol
I hear ford is training blue cruise to do just this at the 5 year mark, considering the frame will have rusted in half on any F150 by then for all vehicles outside of the Arizona desert.

They've been flawless in my Model Y for a while now. Same for my neighbor's Model 3.
